Yes. Atheists believe that no God exists. That's a belief correct? In either case, whether Atheist or Christian, everyone in this world has some form of religion.

It is in fact a belief. However it is not a religion. qa Religion is defined by Dictionary.com as:
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
I this instance atheism cannot be defined as a religion since it deals almost exclusively with a LACK of belief in a superhuman agency and leaves the hows and wherefores of creation to the realm of empirical science.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
It could possibly be defined as a religion under this definition, though that would presume that all atheistic scientists agreed on the nature of the universe.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
Atheism is generally disorganized. This is likely due to the fact that without a unifying concept they don't see any reason to organize.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
I don't think this on applies either.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
Again, not really applicable.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
Probably, but only insofar as they all dispute the existence of the divine.
7. religions, Archaic. religious rites.
Not really an archaic concept. Atheism is really a fairly new ideology.
8. Archaic. strict faithfulness; devotion: a religion to one's vow.
Well, I can't really fault most of them on this point.
In conclusion, I count 3 out of 8 POSSIBLE definitions of atheism as a religion. The majority seems to fall on the side of no god, no relligion.

In a narrow sense an atheist is a person who does not believe the he will be saved by Jesus. It is just like the term Kafir in Islam. Therefore for a Christian a Muslim will be an atheist and for a Muslim a Christian will be a Kafir. For both of them a Hindu will be an atheist/kafir. In a broader sense, an atheist has now come to be understood as someone who does not accept the existence of god. This acceptance itself is only limited to the extent of admitting the existence of God as a person with human qualities at least in terms of physical/mental characteristics.
A belief in such a God is essential in the Non-Dharmic (Abrahamic) religions but is not so in case of Dharmic religions like Hinduism, Buddhism etc. These religions expect a person to think about God and find his own answers rather than serving a package deal about God to be accepted by all without questioning.
A belief is a state of mind where your brain refuses to think further on a given subject. Every belief is a product of thoughts but every thought may not result in a belief. In the Dharmic religions, thoughts about god is sufficient to admit the person into the fold. This thought could even be questioning the existence of God. For example, the most venerated scriptures of the Hindus, the Upanishads are wholly devoted to examining the existence of God and explaining the phenomenon. These would be considered atheistic in the Non Dharmic faiths.
A belief in the non existence of God does not make it any less a result of thoughts about god. Therefore an atheist can be part of a religious group like Hinduism and continue to identify himself as such while still remaining within its other Dharmic injunctions.

A person can have secular beliefs or religious beliefs.
Belief does not equate religion entirely.
Say I said, I believe gravity exists based on current scientific data.
I just declared that my belief, or what I see before my eyes is valid, as based upon sound, scientific criteria.
What I mean, is belief is a very general term, which has many connotations attributed to it.
BTW:
the person who said atheism is a disbelief in god is wrong.
Disbelief means mental rejection of something as untrue .
Don't believe me, look it up in the dictionary.
Atheism is an Unbelief in god, not disbelief.
God Bless

I firmly believe if can be. Some atheists are true atheists. They do not believe in or care if there is a God and therefore give God no other thought. Often the people on YA are those who sociologists would say have made atheism their religion and become as zealous "evangelical" as those religions they dislike so much. Hatred for God has replaced believe in God.
I doubt you would find a true atheist on YA debating God because to them it would be a mute point. They know there is no God and that is all they need. The people you find here are often trying to convince your of the error of your ways so to speak and therefore, they are trying to convert you to atheism. Sociologically, many meet the requirements for "the religion of atheism".
Oh, and for all of the atheists who will give this a thumbs down, thanks in advance. I find it funny.

The question becomes can you prove that an atheist doesn't believe in God - because you know you can't prove a negative.
Above me: "I don't 'believe' there is no god(s). I know. There is no belief involved."
First of all, you have a double negative so you're really saying you believe there are god(s). Second, it's impossible for you to "know" that. Knowledge implies evidence, and simply because you haven't experienced a spiritual event doesn't mean that it isn't plausible or real. To say you know is very pompous and insulting.

Athiests do not believe in god(s). Since the weight of evidence for the existence of god(s) is, scientifically speaking, about zero, no it really isn't a belief. Not in the traditional sense. It is a worldview. However their disbelief is such that it acts very much like a belief. Like religious types they attempt to spread their world view, and like the fundamentalists, when they get in power, they tend to suppress opposing viewpoints, sometimes with force. Unlike religious fundamentalists they are unlikely to kill their own children when they "hear voices", and no book requires them to do some of the deadly things the bible commands. As a agnostic I view them as rigidly doctrinaire, nearly as bad as fundamentalist christians, moslems, jews, and hindus.

yes it is. You do believe the sun will rise, that there will be snow in december. It's a belief that you have. That's the same way what we atheists think are beliefs

No. Absence of belief is not belief. It is true that most athiests put the probability of God's existence as very low, but this assignment of probability is based on logic and science and not belief.

Yes, just not technically a religious one. I prefer Agnostic myself. The author Piers Anthony best described an Agnostic as "an Atheist who lacks the courage of his convictions". I love that!
