After a person sings in their church, no one claps, this is because they are suppose to be reverend and quite. The person who sang goes quietly to their seat.

huh, I didn't know that. Thanks. (seriously...I like learning new things).

BTW, in Jewish Synagogues we don't clap either! Go figure.

Uhh.....the only people that sing...well during church services...is the person leading the hymns, and of course everyone who is singing along with the leader....

so why should we clap? I never clapped in the Catholic Church, or the Church of the Brethren after someone lead a hymn....

It is never acceptable for a choir to receive applause in a Latter-day Saint Church service. Recently, however, I was in a choir preparing for the upcoming stake conference and we rehearsed "I Need Thee Every Hour" in Spanish, which is translated to "Te Necesito Si."

The stake president, a native of the Dominican Republic, heard the song, and with tears in his eyes, applauded. He was the only one in the huge auditorium listening to our rehearsal.

During the conference, the stake president got emotional again at hearing the hymn behind him, but there was no applause that time.

Note: That is reverent and quiet, not reverend and quite.

I didn't know that but if that is how things are done in their church then what is the problem. When the Cantor sings at Shul, we do not clap either. To each his own.

We don't clap in church because we are in church to give glory to God. If we clapped for a person it would be giving them glory, not giving glory to the God who blessed them with a musical gift.

Yah, and once someone in my ward forgot and started to clap! It was really funny and almost everyone had to stifle their giggles! :)

Wow, we do that in the LDS church too. I didn't realize that all the non-Mormons did it also.
