I don't consider myself a Christian and I don't believe in God, and i dont know if the story of Jesus is true.
But i do use the words and message of Jesus and his story to help me through my life.
I believe it is a powerful message of love, healing, forgiveness and acceptance (all of the best human qualities).
I get a lot of comfort from the story of Jesus, and believe in the story of the man. For me, the story doesnt even have to be true, i believe in the story, and the comfort comes from within me, not from an external source.
Does any one else have similar views?
What do you all think about these thoughts?

This question is for everyone of these religions to come together and see their similarities. They essentially all 3 have the same stories of Noah, Moses, and Abraham, and they essentially all have the same beliefs and laws. They all 3 say they are the one true religion and all other gods and religions will lead you to hell. Another obvious similarity is the laws to kill enemies, friends, and family for believing in, or even suggesting, to worship different gods or religions. All 3 religions have a very dark history of murder, war, and torture yet followers consider their religion one of peace. When their God kills it is justified and when one kills for God it is glorified. To me a religion of peace would be a religion of tollerance, acceptance, and forgiveness (but without killing as a form of forgiveness) Many Christians claim that When Jesus died on the cross we were forgiven, but when will God be forgiven for his sins?

Why did Malcom X put away racism and violence after returning from Mecca? This would be also when he turned away from the teachings of NOI and accepted true Islam.

And yet Catholics dont hit back with the same agression.

I know many protestants have a limited understanding of the bible save for what they have been thought to believe by their pastor.

Yet Catholics just seem to sit confident in their faith and not go up in arms every time a evangelical or fundementalist questions them.

Some protestants seem to be willing to resort to violence in their apologetics.

Still, it seems strange to me that even if you dont believe that Catholics gave you the bible you

a) Have faith that catholics didnt alter all of it when it was in their care for 1200 years

b) Have faith that Martin Luther (a dubious and hate filled man) was so inspired to remove much of the bible and its teachings.

Not the church of Paul and James and John etc.

Why and how do they use the bible to claim some things that happen in mass to be unbiblical.

I can clearly see where the Eucharist is mentioned dozens of times in the bible. Thats just for starters.

I believe in reincarnation but not in "karma", I think being "good" or "bad" has nothing to do with it.
I think after death you reincarnate as the human closest to you. Maybe not the closest but maybe someone in the same town as you.

Therefore say you travelled to New York and died there, there would be a very good chance you came back living in New York.

Since most religious adherants don't believe in all gods: Ex. In Christianity belief is limited to Jesus while Thor, Vishnu, Ganeisha, Zeus, Athena, and all the other gods that were worshipped in history are left out (not believed in), then it is true to say that there are more non believers than believers.

This question regards to the tragic events of 9/11 which showed us a glimpse of the cruel world we live. I as a Canadian Muslim completely share that human loss with my American friends. No matter what the differences maybe, such loss of innocent lives can never be justified what ever the cause. War remains to me as meaning less as possible.
America just few decades ago had the utmost respect as a Peace loving Nation. The role it played against Nazis in World War 2 must be lauded as it laid the foundation for a much more scientific, civilized and above all a Free World. I also pray that the so called Muslims turn back to the tolerant, compassionate, forgiving and loving nature of Islam as is mentioned by the western lady recently who is studying Islam.

I hope above all that 9/11 should give us all a better opportunity to self reflect and where the whole Human race is headed
