Well at least it's not a train horn at various time through out the night. Maybe a well placed fan or leave the air conditioner fan on, will drown out the horn. Or you could try to find out where the guy being picked up lives and leave him a note in his mailbox, asking him to not have his partner blow his horn anymore.

I take it you live in an apartment, am I right? Unfortunately, there are a lot of inconsiderate jackholes out there who think the rules don't apply to them. In this case, the jackhole doesn't seem to understand that OTHER people can hear his horn as well and ignores the laws of common courtesy when visiting a place where other people reside. Honking a horn outside of an apartment during the day is rude enough. This guy doing it at 5:30am would send me for a loop!
First things first, go to management and ask them to post a sign that says "Please be considerate to surrounding neighbors. No car horns" or something like that. If they think that it's not their problem (which it IS, but some managers are like that), take matters into your own hands. When you hear the car horn, drag yourself out of bed and go outside to greet this jerk head on. Let him know that you and other neighbors can hear his horn and you'd all appreciate it if he could find a more quiet way to carpool such as calling his friend when he gets there. Hopefully, this guy will understand. If he doesn't, time to get the law involved!
Good luck!

Do you have neighbors who are also annoyed by this fellow's horn? I suggest that several of you pay a visit on your neighbor, the rider, and ask HIM to do something about the noise. Ask him to "Help you avoid taking the matter to the police." Make a follow up visit if you don't get results. Then think about going to the police.
My neighbors and I once waited and "ambushed" just such a horn tooter. We surrounded hher car with out own cars and "punished" her by making her late for work. Sadly, this didn't have the desired effect. We ended up chipping in to hire a private-duty police officer to ticket her for disturbing the peace, violation of city noise ordinance, use of horn in non-emergency situation. Then she stopped. I hope you folks are not driven to such lengths.

you should talk to the guy that is being picked up and be honest & kind and tell him that its too early and you'd appreciate if his friend could not do that. If he still doesn't stop you could file a complaint to the police. Because it is illegal to make loud noise before a certain time, and I'm sure 5:30 is way before the legal time.
Hope that helps...It sucks having inconcederate people especially as neibors that effects you. Good luck

i would make a point to go out there and put a lawn chair in the driveway and wait for him .....
when he pulls up and honks......
you walk over there.....
and say, ( in a very calm yet eerie voice )...
"For the last month............i have been woken up by your insane horn honking at 5:30am every morning. I want to be very clear with you......Do not honk that horn at 5:30 in the morning again, or I am calling the police. Get out of the car, walk up to the door, and knock if you must. ...........or use your cell phone and call the person........but whatever you do ....DO NOT HONK THAT HORN AGAIN. I am TRYING to SLEEP."
then walk away ......and have the most satisfied sleep of your entire life.....lol

Oh how annoying. That is definitely rude.
You need to complain either to your town council or the police.
You could confront your neighbour but chances are, that if he's that inconsiderate then he'll just continue it.
Then also he'll know it's you who reported him. Best you do it anonymously. I'm sure you're not the only one who will make a complaint though!
One of my neighbours got a truck driving job and used to back out his semi at 5 am with the beeping reverse noise going. Drove me crazy. Was going to report it (but felt a little bad coz it's his job...) but someone beat me to it!

Talk to your neighbor who is getting picked up for work. Explain that when his friend honks the horn it wakes you up. Most likely this person will mention it to his friend or make some other arrangement.

Either talk to the guy, or his friend, and if that doesn't work, file a report to the police, yes.

Actually i'd appreciate it... I'll get to be able to get up early. Tell him that the horn is disturbing you and you need to sleep.
