I thought this was cool. I hope you appreciate it. I don't think we need checkin up on. HOW TO CALL THE POLICE -- WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DONT MOVE FAST ANYMORE.
George Phillips, an elderly citizen of Meridian, Mississippi was going
up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the
garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened
the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in
the shed apparently stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said
"no".
Then they said that all patrols were busy at the time, and that he
should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when
available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 60, and phoned the
police again.
"Hello, I just called you about a minute ago because there were people
stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them
now because I've just shot them." Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an
ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot
them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
(True Story) I LOVE IT - Don't mess with old people!!

My mother uses a service called www.iamfine.com. She used to have 6 of her friends all call each other every day.
The service now calls everyone, my mom and her friends just press 1 on their phones to show they are OK. If they fail to answer the service calls them a few more times then emails the entire group.

I work in an Assisted Living facility and it is my job to check on our 28 residents to see how I can be helpful to them. I also check on my own mom every day to see what she needs. No one is checking on me, however, lol.

Yes and often take meals. I take my 80 yr. old friend to the dr.'s, bank, shopping though she still drives. She gets easily confused and is distrustful of people.
