I believe that people who DO believe they were put here for a reason are looking for a way to mean more than just "being another human being".
I think that feeling of "having meaning" motivates people to be better human beings...to strive for things as opposed to just existing...and to do things more for the common good than selfish purposes.
And that can NEVER be bad.

Yes. Everyone on Earth was born for a reason. Whether they choose to be that reason or not is up to them. I feel like I was meant to change something in this world. I know I was. But when life gets dull and dragging, I don't want to be the one. Everyone has the opportunity to be a big change. But they don't have to take it. Some people do, and they become great. Like Ghandi, Shakespeare, Mozart, Hitler, the list goes on. Others don't take the chance, and they live normal happy lives and are remembered in their families. Finding out the reason you were created, or what you can do for the world, being the difference, is sometimes difficult. Praying about it has helped many people. Some people are suddenly inspired. Some are told in dreams. Some people feel guilty, or heartbroken. Nomatter which way these people feel they must be a change, they all do, and that is what makes them great. Whether the change is little or big, whether it is giving birth and raising children, leading troops to war, bringing troops home in peace, saving the rainforest, stopping animal cruelty, being a good father, pulling a child out of the road before a car kills them, it just all depends.

Yes, I know exactly why I was put on this earth. I was put one this earth to love the Lord my God with all my heart and soul. I was also put on this earth to bring glory to Jesus and to lead others to Him so that they my have life more abundant and everlasting. I know this because ever since I gave my life over to God, my soul has been a peace. I use to be very troubled and worry about what was going to happen tommorrow. I use to be very negative and hurtful. I felt like nobody cared and that I shouln't either. Then a turning point came in my life and instead of choosing to turn away, I turned to God. I praise the Lord everyday that I no longer feel the way I use to. I am a new woman in Christ and nothing any one can say could ever make me feel bad about that. I love Jesus with all my heart.

Everyone was put on earth for a very good reason. God wants mankind to experience an earthly existence so we can appreciate our ultimate spiritual life.
In addition to the Bible, God gives us many clues in nature. There is physical DNA and spiritual DNA. To the caterpillar it's the end, to the butterfly it's the beginning. God loves us and there's not a darn thing we can do about it.

I don't feel like I was 'put' on Earth.
I feel like I was born and developed.
And no, I think we make our own reasons, including religion. I don't think the human condition is to have a 'purpose' to live. I think our best goal is to live healthily and peacefully with one another and other living things.
I know that is a bit too complicated for most of us....

Yes, but I don't know the reason. Though I'm sure it has nothing to do with big invisible monsters. Mind you, I could be wrong. Show me some evidence & I'm willing to entertain any possibility.

People aren't allowed to do anything worthwhile anymore anyway. It would take an idiot to create a human being with any sort of purpose whatsoever in this day and age, and actually expect him to accomplish it.

Yes, I have come from heaven to earth for a reason. From guidance and instruction that was given.

No, I think I was born, and because I am a human and therefore inclined to create a narrative, I invent reasons for my being here.

Yes, but that is only my own egocentrism. It is human nature to try to attach reasons to things. Though, if you think about it, we really are only here because of natural processes. There is no universal plan.
