ok, so let's take two people. one never bothers to observe the sabbath. the other is a homicidal maniac who can't help but kill people. they are both devout christians and believe jesus is their lord and personal savior. while the homicidal maniac prays that his affliction for bloodlust will one day end, the other person sees no real need in observing the sabbath. he rationalizes, "at least i'm not a killer, god will forgive me." so my question is this. if all sin is equal, as we are taught in christianity, who is more likely the get into heaven? are they both just as likely? please explain your answer.

An insurrectionist who kills non-combatants is guilty of baghy, "armed transgression", a capital offence in Islamic law. A jihad can be proclaimed only by a properly constituted state; anything else is pure vigilantism.

Countless times people have quoted from the bible,quran etc.....and asked 'questions' about the said verses....thepeople who answer say not to take things out of context.....

1) to the questioner

Why don't you people read a verse etc....completely and not pull it out from some web-site thats biased, before you ask a question, believeing that YOU of all the THOSANDS of people out there had found some holy grail that coverts epople to your religion etc.....Do you often have such perspections....?

2)The questionee

Will you people stop asking the above people to take thigs out of context and do more to research the proper context and give a valid irrefutable answer you so solemly believe.....?

Then will they speak up against what they must feel is the teaching of lies, bigotry, ignorance, and scientific illiteracy to the minds of the young, weak, and/or gullible?

The stifling of young minds who naturally seek HONEST and INFORMED answers to their questions can be no less than child abuse.

I'd ask the same of the Islamic communities in regard to any extremists or fundamentalists within their religion or communities who might equally pose as much of a threat to peace and a respect for nature and the environment, as well as negatively conditioning the young.

Crazy, outlandish, christian fundie groups are no different.

At the very least these fundie fruitcakes give religion a bad name, notably the christian religion and it's many and highly varied offshoots.

Do moderate, informed, scientifically literate, and progressive christians feel duty bound to side with those fundies who claim the same god, and so be happilly tarred with the same brush..?

I read answers from people like "CJ" who for some reason likes to voice his uneducated answers. Ironically I see so many people bashing Catholicism, but I don't see many Catholics calling other religions wrong. (I have read a lot of previous posts to prove this.)
Its like the world likes to scrutinize Catholicism. What for?? Are they that insecure with their own beliefs that all they can voice is negativity. Wouldn't you reason that "they have their beliefs and I have mine, and thats ok"? I get a kick out of so called "religious people" who bash on other religions.....it doesn't say very much for what your faith teaches you.

Mainly because they don't believe in your god, or your flavor?

Then how do you come to grips with the fact that people, good moral, nice people, within your church or religion struggle with the same things???

Things like cancer, children dying in accidents, acts of nature or war? How can you justify saying, "an atheist I know has incurable cancer given to him by god".

I truly am curious if anyone can explain this whacked out thought process to me?

My Mother is going thru one, she's in her late 30's, naturally young looking and all but wears leopard print shirts at times, listens to rock, likes to take belly dance lessons, acts like a child and is free-spirited.
What if she's like this for 10 years?
I think she was always like that.
And younger men are almost always attracted to her.
would it be silly if she was like this 15 -20 yrs. from now?
DID you ever go thru some midlife crisis or midlife transition?
How did you get over it?

Why is that? Why did God, at one point tell the Children of Israel to kill sacrificial offerings, witches, homosexuals, people who touch unclean things, etc, etc, then later tell people to turn the other cheek and to "not judge" and to love thine enemies?

Christians Hope you are well. I have a question I had someone wrong me and say bad things about me that someone brought to my attention in an e-mail. Does a christian have a right to an apology? I dont expect her to say sorry because I know she is not and that is OK.

The reason I ask this is that I read the Bible and Jesus from what I read Jesus never demanded or required and apology for those that were mean to Him and crucified Him.

The easy thing to do would be to tell off the person who sent the e-mail and as well as the person promoting strife and negativity.

There is enough hurt and bitterness in the world without me added and contributing to the mess of life.

As a christian what is the Christ like thing to do when someone bad mouths you even when you dont even live near this person anymore?

In the middle ages, before anyone knew what the hell they were talking about, they beleived the heart controlled everything you do, because if you remove the heart you're dead. Now we know the brain does, so shouldn't everyone be saying "I know in my brain...." or "My brain is telling me..." or "I love you with all my brain?" Love? It's caused by chemical reactions in the brain. You develop an affinity for one person over everyone else. Nothing special going on in your blood pump.
