Christians do not look at things the same way Hindu's do and Protestant Christians look at things differently than Catholic or Orthodox Christians.

Instead of realizing the truth as in realizing The True Self as in Jnana Yoga, Christians are concerned with going to Heaven and not going to hell. They expect this to occur after the body dies.

The closest thing I'm aware of to realizing the True Self (realizing the truth) that Christians think of, is that Catholic Christians with a contemplative orientation are concerned with experiencing a high degree of "union with God" ( I can't remember the exact Catholic term), and that this can be experienced while the body is still alive.

For a Hindu, realizing the truth is realizing that I am not the gross body or the subtle bodies, and experiencing in samadhi that my true self is and has always been one with God (Brahman).

Christians believe that God created humans as separate from God. Protestant Christians believe that humans were and always will be separate from God. They do not see Heaven as union with God, but that we will be "with God".

Catholic Christians believe that man though separate from God, by the grace of Jesus Christ can be "merged with God".
Christians, generally, do not understand the Hindu idea of a Guru.

Just to share my own orientation; I am a Catholic Christian who also believes in Advaida Vadenta. I have a Guru, who had his Mahasamadhi before I knew of him. He is Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi of Tiruvannamalai, India. I have never met Sri Ramana in the flesh but he appeared to me in 1972.

Even though Sri Ramana's body died, he did not die and is still a "living Guru".

My Sat Guru is Jesus who was born in Bethleham and raised in Nazareth, Israel. Jesus's body died 2000 years ago but He did not die. He is still accepting new devotees.

For Christians the Bible is our word of honor and our truth, it tells us about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, he died on a cross for you and me, The bibles says we are all sinners, For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Romans 3:10 says none is righteous no not one, With Jesus's death on the cross and resurrection we can be saved now by faith, Eph. 2 verses 8&9 For by grace are ye saved thru faith, now in order to recieve this faith and be saved we must be born again, John chapter 3, here is a sinners prayer you can say that help you believe and be a follower of Christ, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!
