It seems to me that if some intelligence really was responsible for the creation of everything, more logic would have gone into it. Humans cannot subsist on a diet too heavy in one type of food and too light in another. Diabetics cannot have complex sugars in excess, for example, and vegans must take vitamin supplements or risk a whole host of diseases.

So it seems to me that there is no real order to the way of things. Humans may have gotten the larger brains and ability to reason, but we got short-changed in the diet department. If we eat too much of one thing, we get fat; too little of another, we risk disease; and there are some things that can kill us outright.

If there is a benevolent force in the universe that wants us to be happy, why can't we eat what we like with no ill effects? And if this force doesn't necessarily want us to be happy, why should I care what it thinks?

so if you've read any of my other questions then you have heard of my friend.
she shoplifted over $100 and they said they'd put the letter in the mail. she hasn't gotten the letter yet. its been a couple of days.. so its not that late..

BUT she needs to know how long it will take. 1 to get the letter. 2. to go to court. and 3. to finish community service. because she got offered a job and she told them that it would be a little bit of time before she could accept it but they said it would be OK in like a month or two..

how long until this is over???

most of us laymen don't fully understand (or hope to) modern scientific theorems and principles in all their complexity. at some point we just "believe" a smart nobel laureate somewhere to have figured it out right. why not invest the same faith and effort in the teachings of some of our modern day religious/spiritual gurus who claim self-realization? why such a big deal about the scientific approach when its just a question of "faith" anyways?

All holidays, birthdays, and special occasions are celebrated yearly. Even sports championships occur yearly. Can you think of any holiday or event that is celebrated less often than yearly?
Is there any sports whose season is longer than one year? (Other than the olympics)

I have this book called the Old Testament Challenge and I'm having some problems with a lot of the things it says and asks. I don't know if it's just because I'm Catholic and not used to certain ideas or what but I'd like to know if anyone else is having this problem too.

God gives me the strength to fight temptations on everything else except this one sin. I ask and pray for God to give me strength to overcome it, yet I still find myself compelled to do this sin anyway. I just can't seem to get rid of it, no matter how many times I give it over to God. began telling me that he wants me to move to his city. I've been resarching about different religions and most churches have preachers who take people's money for wrong reasons or are mostly hypocrites but this church doesn't. I mean nobody's perfect and we all have our share of problems but it's different with Jehovah's Witnesses.

God could have created a nice peaceful safe place for us to live. instead he "made" the universe about as hostile a living environment as possible.

The earth has earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes, mud slides, floods, tsunamis and a million other ways for us to be killed.

Our planet could at anytime be wiped out be a meteor, or supernova (if one were close enough to us).

If god created us and loves us why has he left us in such constant peril?

its just that i 'm getting into the bad habit of watching so called adult videos and pictures and i can't seem to stop.I am a regular church goer and everything ,i'm so ashamed of myself,to be honest i had this problem when i was younger(14) and by Gods grace i managed to stop but now its all starting again!please don't judge me ,Will you pray for me i want to stop before something bad happens (like getting caught that would be so embbarrassing)some of the people i know do this openly without shame but i'm very ashamed because i know its wrong in Gods eyes!I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO TELL anyone about it because i'm afraid of being judged since i'm abit of a figure in my church everyone thinks i'm a fine young man (23)but i'm clearly not!

Just asking questions...

For my fellow Christians....Do you ever find it hard to believe? What do you do to help during those times? How can we really know for sure? Do you have a harder time believing when confronted with scientific evidence, i.e. creation,evolution, society's need for comfort concerning what happens after death... or when confronted with different beliefs? (Because if we are, all honest with one another, everyone believes that his/her religion is "right" and all others are "wrong".)

Atheists.... I respectfully ask for your personal reasons for not believing and how you can be certain yourself of your beliefs. Do you ever have a hard time not believing? lol.

Someone earlier posted a question about having gay people leave their homosexuality in the bedroom and not influencing children in the school systems, and giving politicians "real" issues to worry about. Do straight people not realize that THEIR lifestyle is not just confined to their bedroom either?

How about every time you walk out of an abercrombie store with bags of guys and girls together? Magazine articles, bridal magazines, high school proms, churches, wedding cake toppers, gym classes/memberships, cruises/vacations, honeymooners, or when you walk into the jewelry store to get a band or engagement ring for your partner and the sales clerk just ASSUMES it's for someone of the OPPOSITE sex? How about a lesbian with a partner who is pregnant..everyone assumes SHE is straight?
It's not just the gay people who make their sexuality known. Heteros do it too, you just can't see it when you're immersed in it yourself.

When I'm really in the mood, I want to talk about nothing but Japanese culture, the words and phrases I've learned, the progress I'm making with the language, etc. Naturally not everyone is as..... interested as me in Japan and I know how boring it can be if someone is going on about something you don't really care about. But there's no one I can really talk to who is equally crazy about Japan, the Japanese, the language and everything. No one on MSN, not even my family! I learn Japanese on my own on a really good free website, so no one around me is learning the language either. What do you think? I really do want to talk to another Japan-geek like me!

Have you ever physically been saved from death? I mean, have you ever been in a situation where in any other circumstances you should have died, but you did not? What did you make of it? I have. When I was 11 years old, I was completely ran over by a school bus. I came away with no scratches on me whatsoever. Impossible, you say? No, my body happened to be in the exact position where the wheels did not touch me. How is that even possible? I will tell you what I believe. In the bible God says that His angels take charge over us. I believe that an angel took charge over me to keep me from getting hit by the wheels while the bus just went right over me. When I was 15, I was riding on the tailgate of my uncles truck and fell off on the highway. He was going about 40 miles an hour.
