God could have created a nice peaceful safe place for us to live. instead he "made" the universe about as hostile a living environment as possible.
The earth has earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes, mud slides, floods, tsunamis and a million other ways for us to be killed.
Our planet could at anytime be wiped out be a meteor, or supernova (if one were close enough to us).
If god created us and loves us why has he left us in such constant peril?

So after adam and eve god changed the entire universe? No wonder no one takes your views on the origins of anything seriously.

The ninth ward of New Orleans was a Christian Community that was not an Eden, but it was a comfortble home for many who considered themselves as saved by Jesus. The Ninth Ward no longer exists.
A place with tempting but dangerous trees and snakes created by the Hebrew God is not exactly a paradise. No place of testing can be a paradise, even if the participants don't know they are being tested.

I know that you already had someone answer this question the way I will, however I have to speak truth here, no matter the comment I may receive. GOD did not create a hostile environment. Did you read the account of the garden of eden? How peaceful it was, all of God's creation, Adam and Eve , in particular walking in the garden with God, face to face- very peaceful- when did the problems begin- When Adam and Eve ate of the one tree that they were told not too. God does love us, or He would not have sent His Son to die the death that we all deserve to day. He is Holy, He is merciful and He is God, and we are not. We are the ones that messed up. not GOD
We are not paying for their sin, we are paying for ours, however there is redemption- if you choose to believe it.

"Why did God do this...?"
"Why did God do that...?"
Even though I am not christian, I'm sorry to tell you that no matter which religion you believe in, you won't get any of your questions answered reasonably (let alone respectably) when everyone seems in favour of using god as a scpaegoat for all the bad things in the world.
Tornados, floods, earthquakes, they are nothing but natural events which people strive to overcome and being stronger in the long run, or falling victim and being killed. There isn't any reason why God (and religious deity) should be blamed or asked why they occur.
It doesn't solve anything - just like all the answers you will get for asking this question.

"In order to state that there is proof for God's existence, the believer would have to know all alleged proofs that exist in order to then state that there is proof for God's existence. But, since he cannot know all things, he cannot logically state there is proof for God's existence... ....At best, a beleiver can only state that of all the alleged proofs he has seen thus far, none have worked. He could even say that he believes there are proofs for God's existence. But then, this means that there is the possibility that there is no a proof or proofs out there and that he simply has merely believed he has encountered one..... ....nevertheless, if there was no proof that truly did prove God's non existence, would the believer be able to accept it given that his presuppositions are to the existence of God? In other words, given that the believer has a presuppositional base that there is a God, in order for him to accept there is no proof for God's existence, he would have to change his presuppositional base. This is not easy to do and would involve a major paradigm shift in the belief structure of the believer. Therefore, a beleiver is presuppositionally hostile to any proofs for God's non existence and is less likely to be objective about such attempted non proofs." see how that works both ways, amazing isnt it, thats logic for you it works for either everyone, or no one Additional and neither did the creator create himself and neither was he always in existence he too needs to have had a creator as your logic states, his existence IS proof of his creator his creation is proof of his creator the created creator did not create himself something outside that creator did agian, see how logic works, both ways, for either or against both

Wrong sir,Wrong. God is a loving and caring supreme being. How can you be so sure that sucking all the oil out of the ground doesn't somehow have an effect on the earth? And then it is burned to carbon monoxide that has to be messing with the balance like a wheel weight.
God does love us very dearly, Could you watch your own son go through all the pain, agony, and suffering for a bunch of worthless sinners if you hated them? Why do you think the world is going to end? If God enjoyed what we have done and continue to do and blame Him for it, He could make us live in it for eternity. We all deserve hell but He gives us the easiest way to get to Heaven by just believing in His Son, That's Awesome!!! Praise Jesus!!!

I know, it rocks so hard, doesn't it?
It would suck if everything was all fluffy clouds, puppy dogs, and marshmallows.
Ahh, the truth is, though, regardless your stance on religion, the world's less harsh every day than it was the day before.
I don't think I've ever been able to watch two people duel to the death over a social guffaw, or fight in an arena surrounded by lions. The good old days are gone.

God didn't create the universe as a hostile place. When He created it, it was "very good" (Gen 1:31). The things you mention such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and so forth are a result of sin's curse.

1st be very careful what you call God. the earth was in fact perfect in the beginning and as everyone has all ready stated the fall of Adam and Eve. But as we continue to take God out of the picture the more He is going to try to get our attention. do you ever notice that when something goes wrong most people start praying when national disaster happens we all pull together in the Churches to help out. It should not take all of this to call His people to the forefront we as His people should. Besides only God knows why He dose what He dose. we as mire humans can not even Begin to understand all of Him. I hope that this answers your question but if you need more understanding or at lease Peace ask Him!

Actually God did create a nice peaceful place called the Garden of Eden. However man lost communion with God, and we are left to pick up the pieces.
