SPIRIT brothers whose characters and purposes are so utterly opposed

On first hearing, the doctrine that Lucifer and our Lord, Jesus Christ, are brothers may seem surprising to some—especially to those unacquainted with latter-day revelations. But both the scriptures and the prophets affirm that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are indeed offspring of our Heavenly Father and, therefore, spirit brothers. Jesus Christ was with the Father from the beginning. Lucifer, too, was an angel “who was in authority in the presence of God,” a “son of the morning.” (See Isa. 14:12; ) Both Jesus and Lucifer were strong leaders with great knowledge and influence. But as the Firstborn of the Father, Jesus was Lucifer’s older brother. (See Col. 1:15; )

You forget that in Mormonism we believe that we are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. Jesus and Satan were sort of our elder brothers that were the example, just like an earthly elder brother. But at a time doesn't Satan have to start somewhere? We all start as spirits, so he was not an angel the whole time. Just as we can become Gods, he could become an angel. But he is now a fallen angel due to the war in heaven, and the disagreement on the Plan.
So, to point (just to clarify all those who are confused):
Satan was a spirit first, and then an angel, and then a fallen angel which is now the devil.
We were all spirits once, born from the same Heavenly Parents who bore Satan. So, we are brothers. That's why we believe that, and that's why in our church we call each other by brother and sister.

Our spirits pre-existed our mortal bodies, and were "fathered" by our Heavenly Father (God). The "first born" of these spirits was Jesus Christ, the second member of the Godhead. All of us are spirit "brothers and sisters", including LUCIFER (who was a Son of the Morning or something like that) before he rebelled, and fell and became Satan. Now, he is NO ONE'S brother, spirit or otherwise.

Anti-Mormons like to make a big deal of "Mormons beleive that Jesus and Satan are BROTHERS!" because that implies an equality, either that Satan is equal to Christ, or that Christ is in evil cahoots with Satan. Or that Satan can or will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven the same as any Christian. And, of course, they never come out with any of this, they just make the statement "Mormons beleive that Jesus and Satan are BROTHERS!" and let the implications speak for themselves.

Dane has a great explanation of Angels.

Jesus' and Satans Spirits are both sons of God, The rest of us are all sons and daughters of God as well, That makes us all brothers and sisters, and Jesus and Satan Brothers. Satan was cast out of heaven for rebellion and never allowed to obtain a physical body- thus stopping his eternal progression.

Basically, angels are those who were and are of this earth that serve as messengers of God. Many of the righteous persons having made the transition from this mortal plane to live in paradise exist as angels. There are five categories of angels.

1. Pre-existent Spirits, i.e., “Michael and his angels fought against the dragon” before men were first placed on earth.

2. Translated Beings. Many righteous persons in the early days of the earth’s history were translated. (Inspired Version, Gen. 14:26-36.)

3. Spirits of Just Men Made Perfect. (Heb. 12:22-24.) These are the spirits of men who have worked out their salvation, but are waiting the day of the resurrection.

4. Resurrected Personages. (Matt. 27:52-53.) Many instances of ministration by resurrected angels have occurred since the coming forth of our Lord from the tomb.

5. Righteous Mortal Men. (Gen. 19.) In this account these angels are called “men” and the wicked inhabitants of Sodom so considered them.

Angels shall minister for God through the eternities and cannot progress further than their station. They live in the presence of God and the Son, but stand by to do His bidding.

If Satan hangs out with the sons of God, could he be one of them?

Job 1: 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Maybe our definition or belief about angels would help. This is our of our Bible Dictionary.

These are the messengers of the Lord, and are spoken of in the epistle to the Hebrews as “ministering spirits” (Heb. 1: 14). We learn from latter-day revelation that there are two classes of heavenly beings who minister for the Lord: those who are spirits and those who have bodies of flesh and bone. Spirits are those beings who either have not yet obtained a body of flesh and bone (unembodied), or who have once had a mortal body and have died, and are awaiting the resurrection (disembodied). Ordinarily the word angel means those ministering persons who have a body of flesh and bone, being either resurrected from the dead (reembodied), or else translated, as were Enoch, Elijah, etc. (D&C 129).

Jesus's brother. (That is what the Mormon's believe.) I don't agree with the first answer though because we can say that Jesus is one of our brothers because we are all children of God, but Satan is an angel. Angels and humans being brothers is ridiculous. It doesn't work outside of species. Are we brothers with flowers or mosquitos?

I do think their religion is strange, but I don't see why they constantly have to prove it's truth when Christianity refuses to do the same.

Just simple logic - we talk about God being the Father of all His creations, so then all of his creation are (on that created spiritual level - not a literal biological level) brothers and sisters - all of us humans, angels, you, me, that random guy across the street, the good, the bad, the ugly, all of us.
