Maybe they have fallen in the street and need help.
Maybe they have been hit by a car and need urgent attention.
Maybe they have been mugged.
Maybe their car will not work.

Imagine all the times you have helped someone a complete stranger out of pure kindness, now imagine they had been deaf, what would you have done?

The God that Einstein believed in is not based upon religious doctrine.
It is experienced by a cosmic religious feeling of a universe that has complexity, beauty, and mystery, and an intelligent purpose. It is not just a chaotic accident.

The Human Papilloma Virus(HPV).transmitted via sexual intercourse can cause some cervical cancer in women and men as well.
I have been unable to find mention of any use of any kind of prophylactic in the Scriptures.
It seems that the use of condoms, male and female, is quite instrumental in the prevention of not only the usual STD's but this form of cancer as well.
To repeat the question, How should believers treat the use of condoms for men and the condoms made for women as well?

It can be that I really know that particular thing better than him/her. What is there to be offended?

Can't it be that that particular thing is my area of specialty, even though not offically documented? Maybe I have experience, maybe some special interest, or maybe just by growing up in that particular place I feel that I know it better? We are talking about the facts, and it is either you know it or not.

What is a nice way to express that you know what you are talking about, and you know it better, without alienating the other person?

Does it seem like people on here as of late just keep on asking questions over and over on the same subject without reading the answers to their questions?

Wouldnt it make sense to actually read the answers since you asked a question?

ok, this is NOT a question for the marriage section. I want opinions on divorce and re-marriage from a christian, spiritual, (or whatever religion you happen to be, there are lots)

A woman gets married. She believes she loves the man very much. They are around 20. They have a couple of children. Throughout the first few months things go quite well. Then the husband stops working. He loses one job after another. He doesn't help with the house or bills. She is forced to leave both young children and work while still maintaining the home. He is usually out all night and has gotten involved in drugs. (he uses $$ for drugs that should be payig bills which results in them being evicted and having to move in with her brother and his family) He leaves her for a month because he needs freedom. She takes him back. Nothing changes. She is still supporting them, paying a small amount of rent at her brothers. He goes out one night and doesn't return. He is gone 2 weeks. She calls everyone..

She is running
A hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her

If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her

Never even met her
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even knows she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me

Maher has decided to do a show on what he feels is religious "absurdity". He seriously intends to attack Jewish and Christian beliefs with a collection of jumbled notions that border on juvenile.

Maher intends to appeal to the ingnorant with silly claims. For example he says no one should subscribe to the Christian religion due to its teaching that homosexuals are doomed to Hell. In fact, Christianity does not teach that.

Added to that, he asserts Christianity teaches that God created cancer, child abusers, and evil. When in fact the Christian faith teaches the source of all evil is a result of the misuse of our own human freedom. It certainly does not teach in any way that evil is the will of God. However, Maher wants his audience to believe him.

What else is Maher lying about? I believe he would be truly embarrased if he really knew how absurd his fraudulous assertions appear to the trained theological community.

He gives no credit to the previous 2000 years of history

After reading both the Quran and the Bible. I have come to the conclusion that to reconcile with God takes alot of effort and decipline while the Contemporary God of Christians, Muslims and Jews seems to be a God who they think wants all these mindless followers to start following a their form of religion which they consider will grant them benefits from God. They will even say their forefathers were worshipping the same God. So they think they know it all and hence spiritually block themselves. While the God that Moses, Jesus and Muhammed prayed to on the other hand required lots of truth, conviction, hardwork and humanatarian efforts and there lives are a living proof of it. Even, At the same time even having such a great relationship with God, they prayed alone and long hours of the night. This God certainly is a different God then the God people follow. Are they following the God of Moses, Jesus and Muhammed or a God that there Ego has imposed on them. Your comments please?

I'll start off by saying I'm not a christian but I was raised in baptist, and later methodist, home.

One thing about the Christian faith has always befuddled me. Christianity is supposed to be a monotheistic religion, one god above all, correct? So how is it that there is the holy trinity and it is still a religion that is considered monotheistic?

How was this gotten around? The father, the son and the holy spirit are three seperate entities from what I understand yet they are seen as one.

I am just curious to see what the reasons are behind this and how it has come to be that christianity is considered a monotheistic religion. Did some church leaders long ago get together and just decide that it was monotheist despite the fact that there are three seperate entities? Did this cause problems from christians early on when they claimed monotheism?

My daughter told me my hair looks like glass
Does that mean it's sharp, or shiney?
Or, even more absurd, can she see herself in it?
My son told me to take my eyebrows off
Does anyone know how to do that?
Do you think he wants me to shave them,
or he wants to see me try to rip them off for his viewing pleasure?
Why are my kids playing mind tricks on me??
Are they trying to fool me?
My baby says she wants water, then when I give it to her,
she says juice
Am I part of a test, and maybe they are aliens?

*We can't use the christian concept, or the concept of any other religion, as the constitution states that the US is not based on christian values and will never establish a national religion.

*We can't use the argument of procreation, because this would mean that anyone who has reproductive abnormalities wouldn't be eligible to marry. Also, this would take away this right from senior citizens who wish to get married even though their bodies are no longer capable of producing children.

So, aside from these common arguments, how should we determine the standards for civil marriage?

the Founding Fathers being Theists should tell you why the United States has NEVER has the religious wars many of you speak about.. We as a free country have been blessed by a loving GOD for most of the time the USA has been in exsistence...

All the wars you mention either happened before the Modern World or overseas....The worst this country has suffered is racism and that was not done in the name of religion but in the name of some people's personal prejudices...

Why is it most people want to come to the USA because we are motivated by a loving Monotheistic GOD..
Thoughts?

They say they will let evolution do the rest. During the next 3-10 years, they will announce the success of the creation of life from scratch. How does this affect your religious beliefs? If we can create lives ourselves in just a few years, then doesn't this disprove your theory of God?

I hear Christians say all the time that everyone receives the word of God at some point or another and we choose whether to listen or not. So no one has an excuse, right?

Well let me ask you this...

When you die and go to the promised land... what if God explains to you that Islam was the one and only true way and that you should've chosen Allah." And then He tells you that you should've listened to that Muslim guy walking down the street who spoke to you about the Koran for all of fifteen seconds and you should've ignored being raised in a Christian environment all your life. How would you feel about that?
