This Bible verse refers to the generation of people alive when Jesus walked on Earth. The "sign of Jonah" refers to the Resurrection; just as Jonah came back from the belly of the whale after three days, so Jesus came back from the belly of Hell and the grave after three days.

GOD has no outside and no beyond, thus you and I have to live somewhere IN HIM
Jesus is our True Creator Father God Who is 100% always here as He the Spirit of ALL Truth: GOD See and believe John 16:7-16
No man can see with mere physical eyes God or Jesus or Their One Combined Spirit of Truth, but you may perceive Him in your Spirit-led soul ! Here and now !
Thousands or more of humans have perceived God and Jesus here with us ! May 24, AD1977 and eternally I was/am granted a Sacred Vision of God and Jesus and immediately given a trial trip into Paradise-God ...all too sacred to put into mere human word-symbols. Forevermore and Eternity-Finality Transforming ...
Perfect Paradise peace - the Gift of the same Paradise peace that Jesus had and HAS NOW to freely give to you !
Jesus is now here with us as the spiritual lens in Divine-Human likeness Who makes visible to you Him Who is invisible -- the Paradise Universal Father-Infinite I AM !!
"Behold your God ! For the time in Eternity is now at hand !"
Email me for much more.
Peace and progress,
Brother Dave, a Jesusonian Christian Truthist

OF JESUS and ABOUT JESUS and IN JESUS
Come and share !

Nope. That would be unrealistic. I have better things to do than wait around.
But I also have better things to do than to look for him in every statistical improbability.
And which "God" should I be thinking of, anyway? There are plenty to choose from. Even if you can convince someone of the existence of a supernatural deity, what makes you think they'll accept YOURS?

I live my own life and take care of my own problems. The thing I DO believe is that me believing in god or not will have no bearing on whether he actually exists or not.

He doesn't have to appear to me, but a clear sign - such as a super advanced city appearing in the desert overnight - would convince me. But it seems from the verse you quoted that they aren't willing to make the effort, so they remain mythology.

How convenient. An imaginary God who by definition does not provide signs and cannot be seen.

Nope...not waiting for a personal appearance...except for the RAPTURE.
Jesus said, "he who has seen ME has seen the Father".
