We are based on the principle of freedom of religion. That isn't a Judeo-Christian principle.

The United States is this way because it was founded on a separation of Church and State, and allows all people to follow their leanings. Many of the New England Founding Fathers leaned toward Unitarianism, which is not really Christian (and therefore not really Judeo-Christian).
We've had worse than racism - try slavery. And the worse war we ever had was fought on our own soil - that would be the Civil War - which was bloody, and religious, and involved slavery. If you think there was no religion involved, then you should read the lyrics to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic."
Many of our 20th century wars had a religious component - and as others have mentioned, the decimation of the native people has also.
I think you are terribly wrong.

Most people want to move to the US because of economic reasons that have nothing to do with religion. We are a free country so many might experiance religious freedoms like they don't have in other countries, or the right to have children or whatever. There are jobs here...plenty for all kinds of people from all kinds of places that don't mind work or getting their hands dirty to earn money for their families. Half of them send money back home...at least the asian workers and most mexian workers from what I'm to understand. The fact that our country was founded on freedom of the people and assigned our countrymen certain rights it has made it a safe haven for others to come here and live and move about uninhibited. We have seen war...our own civil war, the revolutionary war and while our soil has never been invaded by an occupying country you forget that we have to spend tremendous amounts of money to keep that from happening...it has nothing to do with people liking us because we are a God fearing country. We may have been a country blessed by a loving creator God because of the purpose this nation/country was fulfilling but as of late...because of our freedom and liberty that has also been a breeding ground for every type of anti-christian behavior that can be named or thought of and we take most of the filth over seas to other countries or import it back here. America is the land of the free and the home of the brave but its a race against time because we are slowly become a society mired deeply in every kind of social moral issue that can occur...a second Rome if you will. Europe is already going through this phase and has turned from Judeo Christian theology to atheist, pagan and Muslim. This country is well on its way along with most of north America. Love in Christ, ~J~

Um...what about the interment and execution of the Native Americans, killing them if they didn't convert to Christianity? And other than that I cannot think of anything that happened on the U.S. soil...but I can think of much more for CHRISTIANITY, which is what I think some or most Atheists are trying to say. As for racism, most of it was done by honest Christians...so....what does that say? Also, it's not because of any god that people wanna come here, it's the 'Land of Opportunity' that makes people want to live her...please, read up on history and what not before you try and make a point.

You have chosen to give all the credit for all the positive things this country has done to a supernatural power instead of to those who actually did the deeds. I do not.
Most of the founding fathers may have been men of faith, but what made them truly remarkable was that they also clearly believed that one's faith is a very personal matter to be decided by each individual according to his conscience without interference from the state. That's why they enshrined the concept of religious freedom in the Bill of Rights. Some selfish people want to change that. I don't. I believe in freedom of religion and want to protect it by maintaining a separation of religion and state.

Crimson, the error in your assumption is that the Founding Father's were NOT theists, but deists. Most of them were against Christianity in all respects. Read the writings of Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin and see what they said about Christianity. Here's some of
Jefferson:

first of all, in my opinion, there is no such thing as judeo-christian. you can talk of the 3 western monotheistic religions, or you can talk about them separately, but judaism and christianity are different. they have different values, goals and things that are important, and it is hardly useful to lump them together.
that said, the word god does not appear anywhere in the constitution, and that was very much on purpose. the founding fathers were theists but they very much did not want a theistic country.

*laugh* i like how peoplet hink that only because of fact God is written it makes each little thing Christianized. on account that I scream God for the period of intercourse does that make it Christian based? My atheist husband ought to end sleeping with me. the 1st exchange is going at as quickly as against the 1st commandment. God isn't stated a single time in the two the form or the bill of Rights. together as seperation of church and state began off in a letter from Jefferson, this is been qouted in extra then 4 very only right courtroom cases, word for word, because of fact the criminal interpretation of the 1st exchange. there's a explanation for it. If we enable the church into government, we ought to to boot pass back to the darkish a while. If we enable government in church, we ought to to boot be communists. human beings declare they choose Christianity interior the government.even nevertheless this is because of fact they assume it is going to likely be THEIR form of Christianity. word what number Catholic presidents we've had. What if it became THAT church that ran the government. seem at how they freaked out over Mick Romney. What if THAT form got here to regulate. i will guess you dolar to donughts they does no longer choose the government.and church mixing up then. The forfathers observed this. observed what it did to different worldwide places and tried to keep away from it.

Manifest Destiny. Slavery. WWI. Korea. Viet Nam. Gulf War I & II. Civil War. Revolutionary War. It is not blessed by a loving God because it doesn't exist.
How is the CURRENT GULF WAR BEFORE THE MODERN WORLD.
WE ARE STILL AT WAR with Korea. How is that NOT IN THE MODERN WORLD?
RACISM is done in the name of RELIGION. Ask the KKK.

A principle motivation of the cold war and the largest military buildup in our history was our hysteria over the state atheism of the Soviet Union.
That was a religious war.

The civil war... is one. Not only was it over slavery but some used religion to justify their beliefs on both sides.
At least 618,000 Americans died in the Civil War, and some experts say the toll reached 700,000
