Does it seem like people on here as of late just keep on asking questions over and over on the same subject without reading the answers to their questions?

Wouldnt it make sense to actually read the answers since you asked a question?

That happens a lot. Some people seem to think that repeating themselves serves as making some kind of point. They don't really want any answers or to hear any other opinions.

I'm one of the guilty ones on this, so can I share why I do this at times.

First of all, best answers cannot be selected for a minumum of 5 hours, and often I will ask a question, leave and then when I get a few minutes come back and read the answers.

Other times, I see that a question is misunderstood, so I will either delete or ask the question in a different way, because the answers tell me that I'm not communicating very well.

Sometimes I ask a question to provoke thought (such as my last question on how to make this forum a nicer place and stop the abuse of the abuse button).

Other times, my ADD brain gets triggered into a thought, so I will ask another question (one of those blessings of being at level 6 is that I can ask questions all day if I want to).

Since I really cannot do much with the answers for 5 hours, it really makes more sense to wait until I have a good amount of answers before reviewing.

I may not represent everyone who does this, but these are the reasons why I sometimes ask several questions on the same topic.

This is an open forum.

Many of these people wander in for 1/2 a minute, using 1/2 a brain, with 1/2 a mind to say something. We are lucky if they have 1/2 the attention span of an ADD child and actually look at any of their answers.

I wonder what the average 1/2 life of a Y!A user is...

Nope, it's not just you.
Yes it would make sense to read the answers to the question one asks.
But in defense of someone that may be new to Yahoo Answers, when I first came here, I asked a question about chickens and brown eggs in multiple sections because it seemed the question fit in many different categories.
Also, some of the answers gave conflicting answers.
Now that I've been here a while, I try to post questions category specific.
Please forgive me if I fail.

I may seem like I am doing that, but usually my questions come from answers given to me by previous questions that I asked (or questions posed by others). I try more or less to get a train of thoughtful questions going but usually it is a trainwreck (so many diverse ideas here). Sometimes people dont see my question in the same context as I saw it (which becomes evident in the answers I recieve) and I try to ask it in a different way... not for different answers but because I was unclear earlier.

Feel free to call me on it if you think I am "fishing" for answers.

It does seem like alot of people will do this especially in the religion section. Obviously some of them are simply looking for someone to validate their opinion but I have noticed especially amongst those who are not religious in any way there are those who will continually post the same mocking questions-- whether about christianity, islam or any other religion-- simply as a way to see if they can get someone who is a christian or muslim for instance to respond in anger and then they can berate that person for "not acting like a christian/muslim is suppose to." Yet these are the same people who get bent out of shape when someone asks an honest question about creation or intelligent design in say the anthropology section. If you don't want someone to ask a religious based question in the science sections don't go continually mocking people in the religious section.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the answers aren't clear enough? The questions are also getting more challenging it seems. It is as if an answer isn't really required, but some sort of debate.
Then again, maybe some answers are too long for the questioner, which is too bad, and sad, because sometimes we need to take a lot of words to answer even a simple question, right?

But will it change? I wonder...

Peace!

Most "questions" are really just excuses to write a little article or prove a point here in R&S. Atheists try to come up with questions that disprove God's existence or which theists can't answer without contradicting their faith, and thesists try to come up with questions which force atheists to admit the reality of or at least the possibility of God. Still others ask questions just to get their name up in people's faces, rather like graffiti taggers, and then there are the people who use this as a forum for their own brand of so-called comedy like the long-lost What Should I Do Retard.

It's true - actually when i received 67 answers to a question, i had a hard time reading all of them (especially since there were a lot repeating themselves, but in other words). Some of them were very long and even boring but i took my time and read everything.... Yet, i'm not sure i would have patience to read 67 answers every day (asuming i'm asking such a question every day)

There's a lot of people who just ask questions for the sake of making a point. They don't really care about the answers. That's why we drink when we see the same questions over and over again.

Spirituality is an evolving subject.. never know what is new to learn on any given day... Religion is an old subject which many are tired of hearing from... the two together can come out as a war zone... as they always have, at least here on yahoo we can't do it from our own living rooms and not get shot at.... if you want sanity there are other categories to vacation in.. and if it gets to much... shut off the computer and go relax in the tub... welcome to the world of yahoo answers... please wear your seat belt and good luck...
