My father was protestant, and my mother a staunch catholic, which enevitably led to me becoming an atheist (i won't go into the reasons why i think religion is a cancerous and meaningless human pursuit here). An Orange "walk" passed my house this morning banging out a relatively tuneless noise, as it does every year, and I couldn't help wonder what motivated people to participate in such an event. Sure, the battle of the Boyne was a significant (if small) battle in 1690, but my quandry is this: Is there any point to this rather vulgar display, other than try to intimidate catholics? Or is this just another living example of religion's ludicrous value?

First question worded wrong, never helped anyone expecting anything in return..I guess I am disappointed in human nature. The ability to just take..without any consideration to the person who is giving, this stretches accross family and friends...
My attitude is this way strictly because I have had enough abuse in my life...so I am always on the defensive, because I need to be....no one can fully be trusted...unless you know exactly what their motivation is.

What certainty do you have - of your own knowledge, not what anyone has told you, however high their authority - what certainty do you have of the truth of your particular way?

Look at cities like Las Vegas and Amsterdam and Bangkok. Population 550,000, 750,000 and 7,000,000. However, no matter how full of vice these cities are, no sane person would contend that these cities contain many innocent babies and children. If one of those cities were completely destroyed the world would mourn the loss of many innocent lives.

So, for anyone who contends that God was perfectly justified in destroying those two cities as it says in the Bible, what of the children and babies?

Alright, from what I hear straight guys like to see girls being intimate. Don't you find it contradicting when they say that "they don't like gays at all" ? This is a serious question, and I'd like a serious answer. Thanks.

The devoutly religious people I know, and know of, are only worrying about their souls and keeping after other's souls. I feel if they are that good, they should be in Utah helping get the miners out, in hurricane areas helping victims of the storms, and in the city streets helping those in need.

i went to a church camp this summer not because i was religious but it sounded fun and my friend was going honestly i didnt even think about God that much before i went.but anyways this church camp was mainly for church of Christ people but im methodist.Church camp totally changed my life i got baptised there and everything...only methodist dont get baptised so i went against my entire religion.my family is pretty hard core methodist so what i did was pretty bad.so did i like totally betray them or was i doing the right thing???and is where do i need to go to church now???church of Christ or just continue going to my church
