You are not wrong, but how do you know for sure that the local churches in those area's are not helping out? I've read and seen on TV a totally different report about how the churches in Louisiana did in fact pull together to help the people in the Katrina catastrophe.

God gives people in the body of Christ different gifts and different callings for where and how to use those gifts. I'm sure that He has some people helping in those areas that you mention and He has other people helping in areas that don't make the national news. Right now He has people helping someone who is an addict on the street or a person who is suffering from abuse. He also has people whom He is equipping for works of service by having them grow in his Word.
1 Corinthians 12:7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good...14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Yes. That's why there are so many Christian service organizations. The Mennonite Disaster Service is just one among thousands (to mention a group outside of my own denomination). Many Christians I know also work with Habitat For Humanity. My church constantly has calls for working with local needs, feeding the hungry, disaster relief, helping the homeless, and much more. We are called upon not only to be religious, but useful.

In a sense we are trying to save people when we "worry about keeping after other's souls". True christians share their knowledge of the lord so that non-believers can learn about the lord so that they can be forgiven and earn the gift of eternal life. They save non-believers from eternal death(this is not a threat).

yes, of course, but I didn't claim I am a good Christian, that's why I'm here.
it's unfortunate that the religious that you know only think of saving their own souls. personally, I see religious people out there helping other people in need, not just sitting in front of the computer telling other people what to do.

OK let's all 300 million of us, and I mean everybody, go to Utah and help. Do you think there might be a logistics problem there? I think we all pitch in and help when we are presented... oops I have a call from wifey. Good thing I'm here instead of utah.

Christians warn people about the fate of their souls because they believe them to be in danger. Whether or not they are right, I can't think of anything more important than someone's soul.

Certainly, Christians should help others, but no one of us have the right to judge other people. It is necessary to speak about that it happens not so often, but not to blame anyone personally.

Christians I know are out helping others a good part of the time. All of your examples of where they should be, are examples of where they are to be found.

The reason we worry about ours and others' souls is because it really doesn't matter how much "good" you do. If your soul isn't saved, you'll still die and go to Hell.
