For example, a business letter/email to a Chris/Jesse/Whitney? I've known both men and women with those first names. Or if it's a foreign-sounding or unusual name that I've never heard before?

"To whom it may concern," sounds a bit impersonal, because I do know the name of my contact. Yet, "Dear (first name)," sounds a bit unprofessional during initial introductions and conversations.

But maybe I'm wrong and it's neither impersonal nor unprofessional.

Thoughts?

Due to a recent question that was asked, I as a "former" skeptic went searching for the answer and found something I never imagined. I don't know how to describe this event or exactly what happened 'inside me'. But now I do not know what to do....

I am nervous and a little frightened, while at the same time excited and happy. Basically, what I am trying to ask from Christians are these questions ---

How do I renounce Atheism and accept Christ as my savior?

And then what happens after that?

- I've been an Atheist all my life and I feel sort of lost. Please, do not treat this as a joking matter, this is a very serious issue for me.

But I want to add the christian name Zechariah as a middle name. I have heard of people changing religions and adapting a new name without it actually ever being made official. Can I choose to do that or do I have to go through court to do it

I have an addiction which seems to be almost impossible to stop: I jerk off every day.
I´m telling you this because I just don´t know what to do about it:

I have
repeatedly tried to stop doing it, and I promised my Lord Jesus christ I wouldn´t do it anymore:However, I´m weak and my weakness is stronger than me.Little by little it´s ruining my life: i do it very often, and I feel run down and desperate because I offend God. But I turn the Tv on and always find something there, or I do it in bed.
Could you please help me??It´s literally screwing up my whole life, I´m hooked on it. I went as far as swearing to Christ I´d never do it again. However, I fall over and over again. Please don´t laugh at me or think I deserve it because I´m a sinner. I need your help!!

You might have many reasons for believing in God, but please admit that one reason is simply because you want to. You don't want to believe what atheists believe, that no God or afterlife exists. You want to believe your relatives that died are up there waiting for you. You want to believe your won't cease to exist when you die. Isn't this partially why you believe? Most Christians won't admit it, and while I don't label myself as Christian, I do believe in God, and I do admit it readily.

Rene Descartes, the famous French mathematician and philosopher, pondered how something tangible (the body) could interact with something intangible (the mind). The interrelationship of the flesh and the spirit is subsequently intertwined by a Creator. This is perhaps one of the greatest dialogues in realm of philosophy and religion. What is your viewpoint?

Islam claims to be a religion of peace, and I do believe many Muslims do practice that. It also seems pretty obvious that the US government is making the religion itself out to be much worse than it really is. All personal views aside, the war in Iraq needs a scapegoat.

Could it be that the Christian majority, and those they've put into office, see Islam as a possible threat in the future? Obviously some of the propaganda was to bolster support for the war in Iraq, but could the agenda be two-fold?

What happens if Christianity loses the majority in the US?

1.) You MUST give reasons for your nomination
2.) It's FINE to nominate yourself, as long as rule 1 is not broken.

I'll let it go to voting, too. That way I know there's no single judge, who might be biased.

OK before you start spouting John 3:16, shut up and listen or a second. Where in the Bible does it say that one verse is the ultimate above others? So anyway, there are at least 8 steps that you must follow. So I'm going to list the verses, maybe summarize them...and can you explain

Luke 10:25-28 says that all you have to do love God and your neighbor. Easy enough.

Luke 18:18-22 says that you have to follow the commandments and you have to sell everything you have and give to the poor. OK that one is a bit...who is going to buy my ratty underwear? What if I can't sell every thing?

Luke 14:26-27 says that you have to hate your parents, your siblings, your life, your neighbors...how do you honor your mother and father if you have to hate them?

John 6:53-54 says you have to eat his flesh and drink his blood. I'm sure that is figurative but...ew.

John 3:3-8 says you have to be born again, baptized I guess. Hm.

Many religions and theologians suggest that the way Christians pray to Mary and the Saints is a form of polytheism (the worshiping of more than one god). Some even say that the Trinity is a form of polytheism.

Which bothers you more, being accused of worshiping multiple gods or the idea that a woman might be one of them?
