Ok my dad is muslim and my mom is christian. I have been practicing the christian beliefs for about 3 years now. I want to still keep my muslim name because I have grown use to people calling me it. But I want to add the christian name Zechariah as a middle name. I have heard of people changing religions and adapting a new name without it actually ever being made official. Can I choose to do that or do I have to go through court to do it

If you don't do it through the court, you will have to continue to use your current name on all official documents, like drivers licenses, social security, passports, etc although you can list your preferred name as a nickname.

As long as you thou roughly renounce the Muslim faith, the name does not matter to God. We are approaching the re-creation of the world by Jesus Christ, as promised in the book of Revelations. Much is said about the Muslims in that book. You only need to read between the lines a little bit, and about a little book.

I understand that you mean official = legal, am I right?

If you want your name be legal, you will need to complete whatever court procedures the law of your state specifies. If not Zechariah will be as official as "Darth" is for me.

Changing your name should be a simple process....but since 9-11.....unfortunatley it's not.

What you need to do is change your Social Security number first.......and the name on the SS number that you have now......or something like that.....and then do the rest as if you were applying for a name change for a marriage.

Muhammed Ali changed his name...I know lots of people who go by nicknames not related to their given names. Depends on what you wnat on legal documents: ID, passport, SS#...

It's up to you. You can make it official, or you can keep it unofficial. But if it is only unofficial, you'll still have to use your real name for official documents.

Names aren't important....neither is "practicing" anything.

What is important is what you believe in your heart and DOING it.
