All you have to do is read the Old Testament. When Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are prevalent in a society, there is little concept of true benevolence left because the depiction of Divinity is also violent and brutal.

No that may no longer precise, in case you will take a seem at a chart of violence and immorality costs, relating to the time we took the Bible, praying, and the ten commandments out of our faculties, all of those information skyrocketed, we took morality out of the place we get motivated very almost the main, our academic equipment, it rather is the reason the U.S. is so "brutal and violent," regardless of if, that may no longer something while in comparison with international places like Iraq, North Korea, and China.

Ummmm...
Were you paying ANY attention to the reign of Saddam Hussein? Nazi Germany? Stalinist Russia?

The US is far less brutal and violent than all but a handful of nations. Learn a little history before you make a fool of yourself.

actually anything the U.S. has done pales in comparison to anything that anyone in europe or the middle east have done.

you might argue that that is because the U.S. was born in a more civilized and modern world where there was not such draconian punishments or treatment of prisoners, but thems the breaks.

EDIT: I would compare anything the U.S. has allegedly done in guantanamo against the atrocities of the british committed in the HMS jersey during the revolutionary war. I would certainly pit that against rome's crucifixion fettish or arabian tearing people in peices with camels. how about hanging drawing and quartering? U.S. never did that.

EDIT2: for a good idea of what hanging drawing and quartering is- although a mild version of it, can be found in the movie braveheart.

You are totally backwards. If the United States would read the Bible we would be less violent. The God of the Bible tells us to love our enemies. Our soldiers lay down their lives daily trying to help other nations. Christ tells us that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend. The brutal part of the USA is filmed in Hollywood and portrayed there. The people of this country are the salt of the earth. Very giving, very loving and it is our Christian faith that sustains us.

Gertrude,
We live under a New Testament. It is not one of violence at all. Those times have passed. GOD was protecting HIS People from the hatred and violence of others. You need to get over your hatred and find peace. The USA has many people of different religious backgrounds and societies. It is not really a Christian nation at all in my opinion. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Look at the violence in countries where judeo-christian traditions are not present. Maybe it is just human nature? These religions weren't prevalent in China during the revolution, in Japan during WWII, or Cambodia during the plight of the Khmer Rouge. Give it up.

A lot of the people who came to America were thrown out of their own countries because they refused to tolerate other religions / sects / beliefs than their own. These were of course the stupidest members of European society. That is why Europeans today have a reputation for intelligence and Americans have a reputation for stupidity.

Religion is NOT to blame for the violence in any country. Man is. He is the one that twisted The Word to his own satisfaction and agenda. In every religion there is a person that runs it, in his own way, by interpreting (usually falsely) what is written in the scriptures.

In case you haven't noticed, the entire world is brutal and violent. That has everything to do with religion, both Christian and non-Christian, but it has nothing to do with God....
