There would be less problems in schools if prayers would be admitted because it would help to get focus back on God and making things right. What do you think? No sarcastic, rude remarks.

I am obviously fluent in english, the language I was talking about is russian. I can speak and understand it perfectly(my family and friends do not understand english so I have to speak to them in russian) but I can only read and write very slowly with usually many mistakes. I get many strange looks when I try to pronounce store names in the russian district of the city because I am 15 and they expect me to be able to read well.

Is this abnormal in any language?

A guy I went to school with was killed in a house fire early Sunday morning. His roommates/team mates/friends were
attempting to play a joke on him and threw roman candles into his bedroom and they landed in a towel and caught fire. He was only 19. We held a vigil for him last night at our high school. Heres more information:

Is the world supposed to be changed? I don't think so, I believe the world, cosmically moves through different conditions, through which affect the people.

However, that is not the question, it would be is the world bad and wrong? I know many suffer in the world, but as I see it the world is a school/university of experience and a life that one lives is in proportion to the necessity that such a life gives in regards to development and experience. It is also my opinion that there can never be peace on this world, in that sense, but we can use the outer world to invoke inner peace and understand why things are the way they are from a higher reality/perspective. Otherwise we negate where an individual is at, from where they stand, some can't have tolerance, some don't want understanding, some walk as animals only in the form of man, some are poor because others are rich, some have knowledge because others do not, and etc.

I had a nice visit from a pair of Jehovah's witnesses this weekend, and after the usual song and dance of evolution, cyclical big-bangs, the fact that adam and eve could never have been responsible for all of us (since their gene-pool's too small) etc. I asked that good old standby of why they take the bible as absolute authority.

As usual I got the old song and dance about prophecies coming true etc. but after I countered with the fact that pretty-much all the ancient traditions can show dozens of accurate prophecies, the best they could come up with was that not all prophecy comes from god.

So my question is, and I hope a few educated theologians get their teeth into this: Where does the bible derive its authority from. The answer can't be God, because it's the bible that tells us about God, so that would become a circular reference. Why is the bible an absolute authority to every christian out there?

my boyfriend's friends doesn't like me, everytime we go to his friend's house or his friends has parties, i feel really awkward and out of place.. they don't like me, even my boyfriend told me so.. they don't talk to me, they keep quiet when i'm near..
they are mostly boys so how could they act in such manner that only girls do.. i just can't believe it.
i feel really sad though, i'm trying my best to reach out like talk to them, joking around them..but everytime i start a conversation they're trying to avoid me.. they walk away.. they don't like me for my boyfriend.. may be because i don't drink and i don't have that "one of the boys" attitude that my boyfriend's ex- girlfriends are . but still, i can manage to talk and joke around them even if i don't sit down and drink with them..but too bad they judge me just like that.. they are so mean.

differrences of religious opinions (Rachel was attacked by Chosen by God 777 about a month or so ago) , then isn't it appropriate to place questions about or for Vile Temptresses here in the R&S Section? Since we are apparently a new and rising religion ? I say it now: Vile Tempting is now an official religion. (this relates as well to Deke's question about if one person believes in a religion, is it real? - YES, I now for sure think so.)

I got a violation notice today, on a question I posted at least a week ago. It was a fun question, intended for fun people who know and love us Vile Temptresses and was answered primarily by VT's.

Just yesterday I opened up my account with no blocks to anybody, and already the attacks have begun. It's ridiculous. Does my not believing that Bush is the President because of Divine Intervention REALLY upset people THIS much? OR, is the attack by someone who feels jealous that they're not a VT?

Which do you guys think it is?

The shortest Chapter in the Bible is Psalm 117.
The longest Chapter is Psalm 119
The center of the Bible is Psalm 118
There 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after it.
594+594= 1188
This makes Psalms 118: 8 the center verse of the Bible.
"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence is man."

Christians, why it is so important to them to disprove the evolutionary / big bang theories?

I grew up in a very Christian environment and went to Christian school where creationism was taught. I am very familiar with the American Christian perspective. What I, however, cannot comprehend is why it is so important to Christians to impede science.

I was labeled by liberal friends as ignorant and hence finally got the nerve to inform myself about the two theories and found that creationists are only cherry-picking at at least one VERY well established theory (natural selection).

The strongest argument I've heard against evolution from fellow Christians is that it's not scientifically sound, and this coming from people who have never read a single book on the theory and know little about science.

Neither natural selection nor the big bang explain why the universe came about (they only explain in what manner) so where is the contradiction? Plenty of the bible is metaphorical.

Job 9:6 (KJV)

6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

Isiah 40:22 (KJV)

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Let me guess, the Bible describing the Earth as circular and supported by pillars is just poetic license? Never mind that it reflects the beliefs of everyone that lived in the world at that time. How can you believe that God created the Earth and the Bible is the inerrant word of God based upon these passages?

Abraham's wife, Sara, laughs at God when he says she'll have a baby and then she does. Which is what she wanted.
In Job, his first wife lost all seven of her children. I'm sure she was a religious person if Job married her. How 'loving' of Him.

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Can you recite this prayer in leimans terms or atleast tell me what it means?
