[asked with a smile because of a similar question about another religion a few moments ago]

Will the soldiers of paganism sweep the world, casting black spells and toppling governments?

Are we the 5th column of Satan?

Damn me, aren't we just?

Paganism is a misnomer. Pagan is what early Christians called non-Christians.
Etymology: Middle English, from Late Latin paganus, from Latin, civilian, country dweller, from pagus country district; akin to Latin pangere "to fix."
While it is funny to imagine what Christian global paranoids must think of the imagined great hordes of devil worshipping Neo-Huns sweeping across the known world at Armeggeddon eating babies and raping grandmothers in the name of Satan, the reality is so different from this as to make the truth rather hilarious.
The Pagans are equivilent to the Christian's own shadows.
How can the absence of something become the presence of something?
How much murder and holier-than-thou destruction has been caused by Christians against the hapless pagans over the last 2000 years?
If we look at history, we can easily see that Christianity as an ideology has this destruction at the hands of the pagans coming to it eventually. However I don't think it will be overt. There will be no conquering armies, no hordes of scary armored horsemen, no frightening spear bearing Druids with bloody necklaces of skulls, no Aztec high priest about to rip out the hearts of Ned Flanders and his clan with black obsidian knives, no great armies of sword-waving barbarian vikings at the gates, no massive armada of Homer Simpson clones waving steel donut grenades and drooling ominously.

No, the real Pagan invasion is the advent of pure reason, in other words, the real pagan invasion is science.
(Remember, the root of the word pagan is "to fix")
Science is the new paganism because it is incompatable with orthodox beliefs or dogma of any kind. Science is not incompatable with reasonable logical spiritual understanding or practices that uplift, such as the arts, meditation, concentration or alternative herbal medicines. In fact when Paganism is seen in this light there is no possible argument to be made. Science simply identifies what is real and can be proven and theorizes about what they cannot yet prove.
Just think how vital and relevant religion would be if they applied this "Pagan" logic to their beliefs.

mutually as i do no longer think of the main important possibility to Christianity is a who, yet fairly a what, i will say that i think of the man or woman at present residing who's maximum hateful in direction of Christians is Kim Jong Il. Public enemy no. a million, although, is complacency. And united statesa. is crammed with it. the main important possibility to Christianity mockingly exists interior the only u . s . the place Christians have the main freedom. the yank church has gotten fat and lazy. The North Korean church, on the different hand, is quietly growing to be. Like a fire burning underground for some years. while it surfaces, it incredibly is going to erupt and eat each little thing. And no longer something can stop it.

Paganism is a real threat, all those dead goats and women wearing only their underwear.

First there was Cod. Before all things that lived, there was Cod. And Cod swam the Cosmic Ocean for an eternity before time even existed.

Finally, Cod grew tired of solitude, and with a mutter of "sod this," Cod set to work creating things to make his swim more interesting.

Cod wave his fins, and from the Cosmic Ocean there emerged light. Cod divided the light into millions of shining stars and placed them according to an article in the latest Gods & Demiurges magazine.

12Something about good Feng Shui.

13And with a sigh of relief, 14Cod played with all his shiny stars, 15still in solitude.

16But at least he had shinies now.

being that there is no "threat" of paganism, id say little to none. Viewed by any religion, every other religion is pagan, there for, all the world are pagans, unless your agnostic or atheist, and in that case, all the world is the world.

Or was that throw off our oppressors and rise up against our disguises? Drat, I can never remember. Now, where did I put that "Global Conspiracies for Dummies" handbook....
