Due to a recent question that was asked, I as a "former" skeptic went searching for the answer and found something I never imagined. I don't know how to describe this event or exactly what happened 'inside me'. But now I do not know what to do....
I am nervous and a little frightened, while at the same time excited and happy. Basically, what I am trying to ask from Christians are these questions ---
How do I renounce Atheism and accept Christ as my savior?
And then what happens after that?
- I've been an Atheist all my life and I feel sort of lost. Please, do not treat this as a joking matter, this is a very serious issue for me.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words (even Atheists - I know you guys are just joking around - LOL to the 'dark side' comment). It is with an uplifted heart, that I claim the name of Jesus of Nazareth; as my Lord and Savior.
That I accept I am a sinner, but He bleed on that cross for me to gain forgivness and mercy. I have done soooo many things wrong, in His sight.
He died because, I put him there (due to my horrible 'past' lifestyle). He rose again, so that today; I can claim His name above all others.
God is wonderful, gracious, patient, forgiving, and most of all He Is REAL!
Wow, that is so weird to write, read, and say. My whole life, I had been trying to discredit Him and now; all I can do is give all credit TO HIM.

Many people have told you to just pray a certain prayer...bla, bla...If you read the Bible, there is no magic prayer that will save you. The only alter call Jesus ever made was "follow me." Being a Christian means that you look like Christ, becuase the word means "little Christ." Being a Christian does not mean that you "accepted Christ as your Saviour." There's alot more to it than that. it means that your life looks like Christ. So you can pray a prayer, yes, that's ok, and not a bad thing to do, but know that that will not save you. I even think it's a good idea to pray a prayer similar to the ones listed above.
Some things people told you are VERY good, such as do it with your mouth. TELL people. Then after you've done things with your mouth, and prayed with your mouth. Follow Jesus with your life, that's the only alter call He ever made., although He did say to repent, which praying that prayer will do. Repent means to turn from your old ways and admit you were wrong.
feel free to e-mail me. I know that some of the thing I told you are controversial to things other people have said. You need to check everything you hear against the Bible.

All you have to do is say any variation of this prayer:
"Dear Jesus, thank You for dying for my sins. I know I've sinned. Please forgive me. I ask you to come into my life, and make me what You want me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen."
It helps to say it out loud. Then, thank Him for coming into your life.
I don't know what you'll feel after you say the prayer...some people don't feel anything at all, others do. But after you've said it...I just have one thing to say:
Welcome to the family, sister! If there's anything I can do for you, let me know!
As a sidenote, I'm a new Christian -less than ten months- and I was an atheist and/or a skeptic for most of my life. I had to learn HOW to be a Christian. I'm still learning. Don't give up hope! What you should do, and this is only a suggestion, is once you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, is join a church where the Bible is preached, and join in fellowship with other Christians.
I'm only an email away, and I'll help you however I can. In the meantime, my prayers are with you.

Technically, you just did! If you want to be formal, the first step is to talk to God directly...to pray. You might want to pray something like this...
God, I know that I have sinned and denied your existence. I now realize that I was wrong and that I deserve to be punished. I now accept that Jesus Christ suffered the ultimate punishment of death on the cross so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I accept your offer of forgiveness and I accept Jesus as my personal Savior! Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!"
If you prayed this prayer, you're now a Christian. The next step, start learning about what this means. If you don't have a bible, go to Wal-mart (or wherever) and buy one. ...and try to get connected to a church in your area.
If you are interested, we have online services at our church on Saturday evening (7 PM CDT) and again on Sunday mornings (11 AM CDT). I'm not suggesting that online church will work for you, but I know our online pastor would be happy to talk with you and offer you some additional suggestions for learning more about the decision you just made. The link for the church is in my profile. Click "Worship Experience" during the times above to see the "live" services or you can click the "Media Portal" to view previous sermons (the most current series is a good one on practical applications of the 10 commandments). I attend on Saturday night and would love to have the opportunity to talk with you some more...and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at KarenL@reallifeonline.org ...I'll check for messages today and if I can't answer your questions I can refer you to someone who can.
I'll keep you in my prayers!

God has much for you to do in this life - blessings
to receive and blessings to give to others.
Accept a new life in the spirit in Jesus' name.
John 3 says to be born of spirit, not just of flesh.
All things become new.
Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to make you a new person.
Ask forgiveness for personal sins and lies you once
believed (for turning away) and ask for more faith.
Also, I pray that someone will be in your life to
minister to you.
You were bought with a great price and are
rescued from a sinful past and future as well!
Think of Christ on the cross taking the guilt away
and telling you to follow Him to eternity.
Blessling and peace to you in the Holy Spirit.

Well, that's awesome!
What's to renounce? Just start walking with God. Trust me, other things and people will give you plenty of ways to openly and publicly "de"nounce your past lack of understanding.
However, as a Christian, Relationship Coach, Minister and other stuff, I will definately recommend you to read the good ol' book, and go deeper and farther than simply "accepting the Lord" as your Saviour. That is a beautiful and wonderful first step towards becoming what the bible calls a "new creature in Christ." And "old things are passed away, and behold, all things are become new."
Acts 2:38 is the first scripture to gobble down. This is Apostle Peters' response tho those in the same situation! They were unbelievers and something in their heart they could not explain caused them to repent and want to be right before the Lord...
Acts 2:37 "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
<> 38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
39 "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call."
It is imperative that you get Christ in your life and heart the same way the bible says, and not by popular way.
You might have thought your battles are now over. Far from it, but now you have the knowlege and power that you are not fighting alone! God is fighting with you! You were already in the same battle before you woke up and saw the Lord, you just never knew you were in that battle. Because it's invisible. You were actually losing before. But now, victory is just ahead! With the Lord on your side, you WILL win and obtain sweet victory and rewards you never even knew existed!
Acts 2:38. Be blessed!

The something that happened inside of you that you can't explain is either proof that you've already have accepted Christ or you're about to. I'll make this as simple, but still biblically true, as possible.
By accepting Christ, you're already be denouncing Atheism. So there is no other thing you need to do to denounce Atheism unless you want to between you and Christ, which leads me to part 2.
I'm guessing you've already done this because of the something that happened inside of you that you can't explain. But in case you haven't yet:
To accept Christ, you simply pray to Him right where you are, or if you'd not alone and wish to be, find a secret place such as a restroom or closet first. But just pray to Christ between you and Him. Tell Him in your own words that you accept him as Lord of your life. That's all there is to it. Seriously.

Believe truly that you are a sinner and can do nothing to escape the just penalty of hell. Repent (turn away from) your sin, and ask God's help to escape it. Believe that God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to live a sinless life, to bear your sins and die on the cross, and that God raised Him back to life. Trust that this is your only means of salvation. You can do this by praying to God, who can hear you. Now confess that Jesus is Lord, by baptism and word.
Get involved in a Bible-believing church that can train you. Read your Bible to learn more about God. Apply what you learn. When you sin again, go to God in an attitude of sorrow seeking forgiveness, and ask for strength to not repeat the sin.
I'm praying for you and hope that this is a true turning point in your life!

Congrats!
God showed himself to me too! he's amazing eh?
here are some web sites to view.
In the mean time think about finding a church. A church can help guide you. Find one that's bible believing and follows it closely.
When someone in the bible found Jesus they did a few things. Look a Paul when was converted. He did these steps:
1-believed in Jesus, that he was the son of God, died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead.
2-repented-
Asked God to forgive him of his sins and try your best to avoid sin as much as possible.
3-Was baptized
The word Baptize means immersion. Find a church that immerses, shoot go in the bath tub if you really need to. In Acts 2:38 Peter was talking to a crowd that just accepted Jesus as the Christ (chosen one) here's what he said,
"38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Every single person after accepting Jesus was baptized.
God bless you on your journey. E-mail me if you wish with any questions.

With your voice, say I renounce atheism and accept Jesus as my personal savior, ask God to forgive you of all your sins and He will. The most important thing is get in a good bible believing church. i would suggest Assembly of God. Pentecostal Holiness or Non Denominational. Don't waste your time going to a church that doesn't teach and inspire you. I wish you the best. Jesus is the answer to all your problems. Pray to God in Jesus name every day, just like talk to Him.

It's really not that hard.
First ask God to forgive you of all your sins through prayer.
Then ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you. You must be sincere.
I almost forgot, now that you are a christian, I am going to give you some advice, get a Bible and go to a church that believes very strictly according to the Word of God. Let me tell you something, the Christian life is one of the hardest to lead, the road will be long and difficult, be prepared, Satan will do his best to try and hinder you. But they say that the most difficult road is often the most rewarding.
