It has to do with taxes, I think. Taxes are much higher in England. Also, land is cheaper in the US, so it's less expensive to own a larger home. Americans also LOVE to buy on credit.

We are in the top credit bracket, but I don't feel rich...probably because we don't buy on credit...even our home is paid off. I lived in England for a while. The English are very down to earth and practical. It would be good for Americans to get more grounded.

I have relatives that live there and I have discussed this with my cousin in the past. We decided that income is probably close to the same. Americans just make use of credit more then the English. Another factor is England is a much smaller country then America and the land is worth more because there is less of it, this is why middle class citizens in the U.S. can afford nicer looking homes. This is not a very well researched answer but I hope it helped you

The cost of living is much lower in the US. Look at the pound to the dollar. 2 dollars to the pound. The UK has to import more as its used up much of its land to urbanization. That's why the Brits are always coming here, they love Fla. They can get a cheap holiday. I was in Jamaica in July and the resort was a little London. Plus the government in the UK subsidizes the health care. They say its free but you really pay with your taxes. I know the health-care in the US is not affordable to millions. (don't bother me with that argument, I'm not an economist) We just have a bigger economy 300 million in population. Blessed with cheap food too. Now transport India's population, 1 billion, here for example we might see some small problems mushroom.

It's a fallacy, a stereotype that every American is rich. Their Not. In New York City, I sat next to a homeless man waiting for bus. My friend's mother makes 15.00$ ( 500 pesos) an hour. My dad makes 100$ (5000 pesos) and hour. Price range varies depending on your EDUCATION, OCCUPATION, and age.

Intelligent English men make more money than Americans. Most of the English are more intelligent than average Americans. Conclusion - English men make more money. But clever Americans make more money than English. ( Here clever means cunning and scheming men)

You don't get it, because your understanding of America comes from MTV and Hollywood. Yes, we're all "bling-blingin' " it here in America. Every last one of us.
