After all, it teaches good morals, and Harry is a very Christ-like figure (especially at the end of the seventh book). Not to mention that both are made up drivel.

I asked a question about the Bible last night, and true it was a little long-winded, and had a bit of a rant in it, and someone had it removed! I find this completely irritating and insulting. Why would someone who has absolute faith it their scriptures mind it being questioned by someone who does not believe in or agree with what is written? That, to me, would prove that you don't have faith and don't feel that you can support what you believe in.

Just to make it clear, I did not insult anyone or anything, there was no foul language, and I did ask a question. More than one question as a matter of fact.

I've noticed that SOME of you guys don't like us Mormons (and other religions neither) but with all the respect that any religious organization deserves, I would like to ask if you bother if I/we use this term.

And all the Mormons, when we go under tha water of baptism we do a convenat with the lord and we have trully repent from our sins, the water cleans us from our past sins and means a new life after baptism, it's like if you're born again. Baptism has been great for me and I'm sure that for my fellow LDS brothers and sisters too and we felt like born again. Since we believe in Jesus, worship him, try to follow his example, we accept him as our savior, have faith in him, agree on his 2nd coming and have a testimony on him, we are Christians (if you say we're not, get a dictionary + resarch our beliefs).

This could apply to any other religion that is a Christian denomination and believes in baptism as the way of salvation.

I am new to these boards and noticed a lot of people ragging on the Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc... that come here to ask questions or help educate others about their faith. Instead of having a decent conversation, some wiccan or athiest has to hop on board and call us crazy or Jesus freaks. What's wrong with my having a strong Christain faith? Why do you attack people who have a belief in God?

about catholicism in one form or another at some point or another

Can a catholic brainiac please explain why you believe these things, if they are untrue, how they can be defended, and how they can possibly line up with biblical teaching, if that is the agreed upon standard.

1. they pray to Mary
2. pray to statues and shrines
3. they dont teach the bible, they teach from their own tradition
4. priests are called "father"
5. they forbid priests from marrying
6. they call the pope "the holy father"
7. they forbid the eating of meat.
8. they dont recognize jesus as god, he is merely a "person" in a "trinity" of gods.
9. the priests pressume to have power to forgive sins.
10. they believe that the pope, a mere man, is infallible

Following are examples of mistakes I've seen atheists make when dialoguing with Christians. They are important to know for both sides so better dialogue might take place. First of all, the atheist must realize that making these mistakes lessens his credibility with a Christian and does not help his cause. Second, the Christian should know these errors so he can identify them during a conversation and, hopefully, not commit them himself.

Number one is: Atheists often challenge the theist to prove God’s existence only within the confines of science.

Science has served humanity well. Through it, we have discovered countless natural laws of the universe and use that knowledge to make our lives easier in every area of our existence. But to limit a theist's proofs to the confines of what the atheist demands is terribly one-sided.

...rather than take care of them with the help of nurses/nursing assistants--at home?

My mom worked full time, hired a daytime nursing assistant for grandma, and cared for her herself after work. (Grandma & Grandpa always promised each other that they would never send each other to a home--or even a hospital--if not absolutely necessary, and they stuck to that--Mom stuck to their wishes, too, knowing how important it was to them).

Now consider this: Why don't the ministers and deacons of the church gather together every Sunday morning and pray to Jesus for the money they need? Why doesn't Jesus answer their prayers? Why do churches have to beg for money from mere mortals when there is an immortal, all-powerful God who should provide anything they ask for? Here is what "God" is saying:
Pray to me for anything and I will hear and answer your prayers. I say it in dozens of places in the Bible, but I like the way I say it in Mark 11:24 the best: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Anything you need -- money, love, happiness, you name it -- I am here to provide it for you.

The first verse states something like "no height, no depth, no things to come and such can separate us from the love of God" and the other verse is often referred to as the "Love Chapter" where it talks about true love. Anybody know where I can find these verses would be a big help, thank you very much and God bless.

Look up these verses:

- Exodus 35:2 – God demands that we kill everyone who works on the Sabbath day.
- Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – God demands that we kill disobedient teenagers.

- Leviticus 20:13 – God demands the death of homosexuals.

- Deuteronomy 22:13-21 – God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry.

And so on… There are lots of verses like these.
It doesn't make any sense, does it? Why would a loving God want us to murder our fellow human beings over such trivial matters? Just because you work on the wrong day of the week, you must die? That makes no sense, does it? In fact, if you think about it, you realize that it is insane. So you create some kind of rationalization to explain these verses.

Apparently God of the Bible likes to send messages. In olden days when the typical message was transmitted by messenger, God used a messenger.

However, today typical messages are sent via email. It seems like an omnipotent God could function at least as well as the spam generators in Nigeria. Sadly, they run rings around God in getting messages out to the masses.

So if God exists, where's the email from God?

Look up these Bible verses:

- Exodus 21:20-21 – God says that it is OK to own slaves, and it is also OK to beat them.
- Colossians 3:22-24 – Slaves need to obey their masters.

- Ephesians 6:5 – Slaves need to obey their masters just as they would obey Christ.

- 1 Peter 2:18 – Slaves need to obey their masters, even if their masters are harsh .

And so on…
And why do all intelligent people abhor slavery and make it completely illegal? You have to come up with some kind of weird rationalization to explain it.
