I am new to these boards and noticed a lot of people ragging on the Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc... that come here to ask questions or help educate others about their faith. Instead of having a decent conversation, some wiccan or athiest has to hop on board and call us crazy or Jesus freaks. What's wrong with my having a strong Christain faith? Why do you attack people who have a belief in God?

Edit: I treat people of all faiths with respect, whether I agree with them or not. I am a Christian, my husband is a Muslim, my best friend is Jewish. We manage to have many religous conversations together and noone ever leaves feeling insulted.
It is possible to share your faith and not offend. It is possible to educate without preaching.

to Queen of Tartz- referencing you many acheivements in education and then referrening to my faith as a false religion is exactly the kind of comments I am talking about. It offensive. You have basically said that now that you are educated, your smart enough to know how wrong Christians are.

I think the mud has flown both ways in equal proportion, but your right it would be refreshing if we all communicate instead of fight. My question to you is will you extend to me a Taoist that same respect?

Nothing is wrong with having a strong Christian faith.
As a Wiccan, I am just sick and tired of having Christians judge me. Most of us non-Christians feel that way. I am also tired of the way Christians use politics to legislate what they think is right - even if it is wrong.
Lastly, Christians are pretty bad witnesses for their faith, as a whole. I can find many, many examples of Christians telling non-Christians that they are going to hell. It is fine if that is what you believe, but don't judge me by your standards of faith. That isn't Biblical. You can judge other Christians, all day long, just keep your judgement to yourselves.
I am degreed in Christian theology and pastoral counseling - and I am joyful because I finally woke up and realized that Christianity is a false religion.
If you don't want to be judged, then don't judge. It really is a simple concept, but many Christians refuse to understand.

Whoa whoa wait a minute, since when were Wiccans "people of little or no faith"? Is it because they disagree with you?
And be a little bit fair here, to say the least, the stabs have been coming from both sides of the fence. Atheists rip on Christians no more than vice-versa.

Well I have lots of friends who are non christian religions and never once have i been ragged on. Unfortunatly I believe that these certain individuals have nothing better to do.
There is nothing at all wrong with a strong belief in God or in your Gods or Goddesses, or Budda whoever you follow. We all have to have some kind of faith or else we would go mad. I could not imagine going thru life thinking that this is it.

The problem is not having a strong faith or non-faith.
the problem arises when a person of non-faith says that a Christian is a fool for believing in something that isn't there OR a person of faith telling an atheist that it will be a pleasure to watch that person burn in the fiery pits of hell for all eternity.
It is the decided lack of respect that causes all the consternation.

I never threaten a religion in a question because..... thats not a question.. but also its fun!! when im really bored... ( i kno i need a life lol) i dont take this too seriously... i respect what they belive and what everyone else believes. I would really miss it if these debates were gone... Then I'd have to go back to pro-war, pro-abortion, semi-democrat, semi-republican, debates in the political sections...

I am personally Agnostic (for now at least, I am not on my death bed and I haven't had too many "life experiences" so who knows...) I think that people that you are talking about feel that there is a god deep inside, but don't want to believe it. I it is whats hip at the moment too, people can finally ramble on about any religion, and other people can ramble on about how stupid those peoples religions are to them. All without persecution. I like to sit and watch the fireworks myself, it beats any reality tv show.

What makes you assume people are threatened by those of faith?
Just because someone finds your beliefs ludicrous, crazy etc. does not mean they are threatened by you it simply means they disagree with you..
To read anything else into it is you projecting your feelings of being threatened onto others whch is very counter-productive and weak wouldn't you agree..

I think that's a fair question. Maybe you will have a better perspective after you have been around for awhile. Since you used the pronoun "us" in your question, it seems you have already established a bias. You haven't noticed religious types belittling, sneering at, sentencing to hell, and attacking atheists? It goes both ways. really.

Its just that on these board everyone makes generalizations. Christians are always saying....... Atheist always think that.....
But I agree, there always seems to be at least one really disrespectful atheist. Unfortunately it only takes one to make them all look bad.
