I know this is going to sound whacko. It probably is but.....
I take my dog for walks. There is something mentally soothing about it. My head seems to clear. I think Wordsworth said it best:
"I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850)."
Now my dog is a special thing. I think she is what the indians would call a spirit guide. God has put a good supply of furry creatures and nature to think about while you are on hold.

Dark philosopher, you must have a lot of patience there is virtue on it. Just wait for there is always tomorrow. If He haven't answered you may be because he wants challenges from you. try seeking and do soul searching. Try to answers questions on yourself. Do positive things to change outlook in life. Delved into more productive ways by not waiting for an answer from God. God will always make a way you may not just noticed it -- it is already with you.

God is not McDonald's drive-thru. It takes time and sincerity. You can't just ask and ask and ask. You have to offer Love, Compassion, Be patience, volunteer to do something and help the ones who are less fortunate than you are. That's how I find God. Whenever I need an answer I don't just ask and wait for him to answer me back. I ask the same thing over and over for many days but every time I ask for that something I meditate about it. Give it a time, and watch out because you might know the answer yourself but can't see it because you're too worry about receiving the answer directly.

God hears you, but he will answer you in his time not yours , the time God does things for you will be right time for a reason.
There is a time for every thing ,and a season for every activity under Heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (n.i.v.)

Because you have made up your mind that He isn't real, so how can He reach you? I have just prayed that the two of you can link and have a chat. God Bless.

Dark Philosopher, it's always darkest before the dawn. But no matter how tormented you feel now ,I promise you it will pass. It may feel that way inside because you are depressed.I take a walk every day to clear my head.Do something to take your mind off yourself..like taking a walk.. reading...watch a comedy! treat yourself to a day devoted to you.

I understand that you are expecting some recognizable response from G-d.
You hope that maybe, if you don't get your discernment in waking or consciousness, you might receive answers to your queries in your dreams. What are the riddles of which you write?
I'm learning from Thich Nhat Hanh that prayer may result in ways we do not expect, but which, if our prayers are energized with our hearts and minds, will change us or the path we are on for the better.
The monk Thich Nhat Hanh writes about two crucial elements of effective prayer:
1. communication between ourselves and the one to whom we are praying. "Because we and the one we are praying to are interconnected, our communication is not dependent on time or space..."
2. "The second element we need for prayer is energy. We have connected the telephone wire, now we need to send an electric current through it. (Mr Hanh is using the metaphor of telecommunications for the one who prays and the one who receives the prayer).
In prayer, the electric current is love, mindfulness, and right concentration.

If this question is just to get a rise - it didn't work. If this question was asked in sincerity, I feel sorry for you. God doesn't put you on hold, you put yourself there. God always hears you, but he also knows if you're sincere or not. You need to get into the Word and petition the Lord to forgive your sins, first. How can you expect Him to communicate with you when you don't believe in Him in the first place? I hazard to guess that He's not put you on hold, you've just not answered the phone cuz you've not heard its ringing. katiefish <><
