If you add an 'o' to God you get the word 'good'.
If you take the 'd' off of devil you get the word "evil'
hmmm sounds...fishy and vaguely...made up

You are absolutely right. The English word for good is derived from the word God. I'm not certain about devil, but it was probably derived from d' evil or of evil in French. You see the English language evolved long after the Bible was written, so regardless of the veracity of scripture, your linguistic argument really has no bearing. You would do better analyzing plot devices and looking for familiar story themes, to point to portions of the work being fictionalized or plagiarized. Trying to use linguistics on the English translation of a book that was originally written in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Aramaic, does not make much sense.
