Well, should I? If I meet a religious girl I happen to really like/love, should I just go along with her beliefs because I like her and want her to be happy?

When I was attending church, my preacher said to me once, "None of us are promised the next breath".

That is both succinct and true.

We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts, for it is impossible to live one way and pray another?

He came to the world to teach love and peace even to his enemies. He was the one who taught ultimate forgiveness "who slaps you on your right cheek turn for him the left one". Even if you don't believe he existed, what do you think of a person mentioned in the bible having these teachings?
I am not offending atheists here or anybody else.

If you don't believe in him , you must respect him as a person whatever belief you have. Maybe he was so much idealistic, this is why many people misunderstand him.

P.S. I have asked this question in the morning, I hope to get more rational answers that are not motivated by hatred or beliefs.

and a lot of who they represent? There are some topics like abortion that I truly stand firm on but it seems like they, as a political party, only stand for rich white America. There is no diversity in the party & they never seem like they care about true to life topics. I struggle a lot with this because there seems to be a conflict with being Christian and not liking a party that many Christians follow. Does anyone feel like this too? If I offend Republicans, it is not my focus. But instead, please share with me why the Republican party does not embrace the lower class, minority population. Jesus would never be sitting around a large luxurious table with rich people having tea.....He would be in the streets, the ghetto's showing the poor love!!! That's the Jesus I love!

Here's an interesting article I read years ago and went web-searching for this morning:

http://www.worldagesarchive.com/Reference_Links/False_Testament_(Harpers).htm

A worthwhile read if you have the time . . . basically, it presents archeaological evidence that the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Moses, David and Solomon in the OT were all every bit as mythological as, well, the tales of other cultures about Hercules or Quetzacoatl or . . . even Odin.

It also demonstrates that Judaism as an organized religion *really* only dates to about the mid-first-millennium BCE.

Now, as someone who obviously *doesn't* believe Earth is the corpse of the primordial giant Ymir but STILL finds sustaining spiritual truths in Norse myth, folk tradition and ethnocultural religion . . . I have to wonder why that just isn't ENOUGH for some people.

Powerful spiritual metaphors + historicity and rich cultural heritage *can and do* = religion. Isn't it time Christians embraced this idea?

And please people, don't assume you know where I stand on this issue. I know where MOST Christians seem to stand on it, but not sure about the many other religions/non-religious stand. It's and honest question with nothing derogatory aimed toward gays/lesbians or those with different belief systems than me.

Do you think people fear death because of the fear of a hell or fear of nonexistance or a fear of the unknown or combination of all these things? Also, why do so many people who claim to be Christians fear death just as much as people who claim to not believe in God at all?

Do you seriously believe anyone else who doesn't believe in god or your religion will burn in hell?
Since we will all have to go through judgment a after death according to religious books, why can't we bring a lawyer with us?
And do you folks believe this lawyer will be called Attorney Satan?

However much I love Christians, and accept their beliefs and ways, I must say I strongly disagree with this I found.

"Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you," says the LORD. "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction". (Jeremiah 50:21-22 NLT)

Surely this can't be right.
I'm checking right now whether it's a genuine Bible quote, but feel free to answer with your interpretations.

U.S.A is a relatively new country and many of you have still strong memories of other parts of the world runing trough their system. I bet that many of the proud Americans of today are similar to those who wanted to become (by various reasons) Roman citizens many centuries ago. America is a great dream but still a dream...

In the Old testament. Judaism rejects Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. So, that would be an after Christ religion, right?

What religion did the Israelis call themself before Jesus Christ came?

Beause of the videos of half naked women shaking and "jyrating" and are being named as the "video girls" (among more harsher remarks) is the reason why "real" women are being treated the way we are today. Some WOMEN think it is ok and some don't.

How do you feel? Why?

Have you read this poem by James Kirkup?

Here is a copy of the text:

The question is, do you find this offensive? Is it blasphemy? Should it be illegal to read it in public (as it still technically is in England) or should freedom of speech override outdated blasphemy laws?
