i'm a christian and i'm pretty dang liberal. the thing is i feel that my convictions have made me the liberal i am. you can be a a democrat or a liberal and not support abortion. my faith has instilled in me beliefs of humanity. to me i don't understand who you can be christian and not liberal. for the most part, liberals work towards social welfare, and social issues. the christ you talk about is the christ i love. the gospel illustrates time and time again the love of christ to those different from us, to the poor, the down trodde and the oppressed. and that is why i'm liberal or call myself such, it is because of my faith and values towards humanity and helping those christ loved that other brand me with the term liberal, and so i gladly accept it. politics is ascrewy thing, it can really take things out of perspective, and so one must stand back and look at why one is really in the place they are. do not worry about trying to fit the stereotype of christiand republican, be yourself, you are answerable to God, not politicians and politics. i have great respect for someone like you who questions and is not willing be accept spoonfed theology/politics, and the fact that you think for yourself is amazing. i have faith in your heart, and no doubt you will do amazing things in the name of Christ and his love.
the reason why they don't is because of the society they grew up in. many republicans grew up in a place with little diversity with a lot of money. other than that i can't explain it, because i truly don't understand it. i will say let's give more omeny to help welfare to feed the poor, they respond that they those people don't care and it's their fault, i respond that they are human and they shouldn't be denied the basic necessities to live, they respond if they wanted to they could get a job, i respond it's not that easy, no one want sto hire homeless people...it just goes on and on, i understand their words, jsut not how they can truly believe them

Republican party is the corporate party. They also function like a corporation too. That means they'll do anything to win votes including appealing to the mindless classes of people which the bosses of the Republican party inherently despise. Do you really believe Rudi or Romney really share any beliefs with the core of conservative Christians in this country? Absolutely not.

I'm gay and *was* a little politically conservative...
You see, Christianity in politics is wrong. What is politics? Lying, backstabbing, etc... However, Republicans like to pretend that their the "Religious Party." This religious party supports the rich and shuns the poor. They deny equal rights to people.
So, I'm not the conventional Christian, but I do know that some people and myself have problems believing that the Republican Party is a godsend.

Why do you think just Republicans are Christians. Both Bill and Hillary attend church, Bill has lectured at the podium and collected money for his campaign during service. So has Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton.
John Kerry attended church, and Jimmy Carter was well known for being a devout Christian.
John Kennedy's faith was a big part of his presidential campaign.
So why do you attack religion and the right when liberals are just as religious?

The current GOP is just a cynical, amoral re-election machine designed to distribute favorable legislation to big corporations.
All Bush has left is his far-right fundamentalist base who he can count on to get out the vote if he supports their issues which boil down to God, Gays and Guns. This year they're hopeful that the immigration issue can cross party lines, especially if they tie it in to national security, and maybe they can squeak by and make a few billion more for Halliburton.
What makes me angrier than anything is their constant inference that if you don't believe as they do that you are
a godless atheist/socialist who roots for Osama Bin Laden.
German soldiers had belt buckles that read "God is on our side" in WW2 and believed they could not fail. God does not bless incompetency or criminal lack of foresight and preparation; but then see, by saying that, that makes me a "liberal"(a godless atheist/socialist who roots for Osama Bin Laden.)because I disagree with God's Chosen President.

The Republican Party has been self destructing for some time now, they usually reach out to christians during election time and after that they forget about the real issues.

Rush is a radio talk show host, and a good one at that. Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and Rudi Giuliani all speak about the Conservatives in America, what is wrong with that?

You mean to tell me that there are Christians that are Republicans? :)
Good point and I have to agree with you. You know that Bush claims to be a Christian, but after 9/11 I watched an interview with him and at the end he said "Praise Allah". Makes you wonder about that "for-runner" for the anti-Christ, hu? :)

As a republican and a Christian, it's easy to see that you and I don't get our news from the same channel. There's an old adage that goes this way; "Give a man a sandwich and he eats for a day, give him a job and he eats for a life time." The latter is the republican point of view, the former is the democrat point of view. You choose.
