My God is about love, and since the Bible is based on His teachings, why it is often used to condemn? And spread hate, in His name. Is that what God, intended, or mans way, of vindictiveness? Furthermore, if it is against His will, shouldn't it be left for Him to decide?

I saw this thing about how Britons don't fly their Union Jack as much as they would like to. I'm not sure about that whole situation, but here in the States I see a lot of American flags. Where do you live and do you fly your banner/ see it around?

I am a 15 year old christian girl, and my twin brother (who I am extremely close to) is as well. I am strongly opposed to underage drinking, doing drugs, etc, but my brother seems to be very curious about both...And his standards for himself seem to be changing. He just got drunk last weekend at my cousin's house, and he really wants to try pot, but he has promised me that he wouldn't ...I'm thinking that despite how much I don't want him to do these things; he is going to have to learn on his own. I just hope that it doesn't cost him too much--he has alot to lose. He is an amazing person, and is highly, highly intelligent. Should I take back the promise between us, and tell him that he will have to learn on his own...or what? I am SO confused...

The Pentecostal church I went to had this regular monthly so called "Christian" magazine. And what I absolutely hated about it, was that on the front cover, was some bloody famous celebrity, whether it was sporting, acting, music etc. Just like a regular secular magazine.

And worse, most of the time, there were only very tenous links to Christianity in the cover article. Many times, the celebrity may have just been raised in a church, or heard about Christianity, any such clutching of straws to put them on the front cover. And there were other cover articles that had no mention of God at all.

It just sickened me that celebrities were used as a drawcard.

Some articles were poorly researched. For eg, one edition had Peter Brock on the cover, a former Australian racing legend. However, Peter Brock and his wife were well known for their New Age beliefs.

Another edition had singer Delta Goodrem. Even though rock / pop music was preached against.

Hypocrisy!

In my previous question about the banning of homosexual marriages, the whole question was based on my understanding of adultery.

However, with many insightful answers that I recieved for that question ( thankyou all very much, by the way ) I feel I may have misunderstood what adultry is.

With that in mind, please answer with a definition of adultery and any supporting data ( be it scripture or what ever ).

Again, thankyou for all your answers. This has been something that has been bothering me for some time. I appreciate all your thoughts.

If it was not there, then why was Jehovah added to the New Testament? If God Wanted that name there, would he have not seen to it that it were placed there?

There is much evidence that YHWH never appeared in the New Testament. Most obvious is the absence of YHWH in any of the 5000 discovered Greek New Testament manuscripts.

Important evidence is also contained in the writings of the early Christian writers. These are referred to as the Apostolic Fathers and Ante Nicene Fathers and wrote from the times of the Apostles to the third century. These include Polycarp, who studied with the Apostle John and Justin Martyr who lived from 110 to 165 A.D. Their extensive writings are a source of information on the early Church, including the formulation of the Trinity doctrine and the development of the Bible Canon. Yet in their writings there is no discussion about the removal of God’s name from the Scriptures. If a global conspiracy existed to remove YHWH from the all New Testament
