I find this one quite interesting.

In the debate between creationists and science, the creationists love to refer to how the bible's truth has never changed...........unlike science.

Aside from the fact that the main strength of science is its preparedness to revise our understanding of what we believe to be true, it avoids that period in the first two hundred years of the common era when christianity was a bunch of sects, mostly Gnostic, pushing very different concepts and ideas.

The christians were brought together by political neccesity rather than a blinding realisation of truth.

How can christians be so sure that the bits that were chosen for the New Testament were the right bits?

Why is it that everywhere i call i get Indians answering the phone?
Im not racist so don't give me that please but it's the fact that i don't understand them and they don't understand me. I find myself repeating myslef to them numerous times and them the same to me.
It is so frustrating.
Taxi's, restaurants, take aways etc all have indians answering the calls.
My bank even has and indian call center.

I don't mean to Him. I mean with Him? Have you received personal revelation?

If not how do you know He exists? If not how do you know He doesn't?

Most importantly, If not why on earth should anyone listen to you about God when you admit you have absolutely no personal knowledge of Him?

When I was a child back in the 1950’s, paying with cash was a sign that someone had their financial affairs in order. Even paying by check, except to pay a bill by mail, was not that accepted. Later, paying by check was acceptable too. I remember my Mom cashing my Dad’s paycheck and separating the money into individual envelopes to pay the various household bills and expenses.

As we all know, credit cards soon became the rage, and now money is almost never used. I mention this because of the recent commercials for a credit card (Visa I think) that poke fun at people using money because it disrupts the smooth flow of customers paying with credit cards. With the “swipe and go” technology prevalent today, paying by cash (or Lord forbid – by check) takes longer.

This got me thinking about how often I use cash and checks. Well I wrote 4 checks last year, down 2 from the year before, because I pay most bills on-line. Except for tipping at restaurants, paying for my haircut, and using vending machines (some of which accept credit cards), I seldom pay for anything in cash. I do use cash in casinos, but as you know, you can’t use coins there anymore. Most of the things I do use cash for could be adapted to accept credit cards.

So my question is - do you think we will become a cashless society (at least in the US), will that be soon, and do you think that is a good, bad, or neutral development.

hi, I'm reading a Donne biography which obviously covers the reformation. I'm not a Christian. and especially don't understand minor differences in branches of the same faith, both believing in the holy trinity & the resurrection and metaphysical concepts like heaven & the immortal soul.

Could anyone summarise the main differences between Roman Catholicism, and Protestantism? I'd really appreciate some guidance. Many thanks. x Sue

If you saw a post from a 12-year-old girl saying she's suicidal and asking if she might be depressed, and you check her profile to see how long this has been going on (has she asked other questions about depression), and you find a post from TWO hours earlier saying she didn't know how to tell her mom that her period had started, and another message from ONE hour earlier asking if it was abnormal for her period to not have started yet, would that raise your eyebrows just a little bit?

"Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 'The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do EVERYTHING they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.' (Matthew 23:1-3)"

Dining out with others, I'm constantly amazed at how little they eat. Their plate of food arrives at the table, some pick a little at it, have a forkful or two then act like they're going to explode. I've even seen some just stare at it a few minutes, then push it away like it was a plate of cockroaches. I dive right in it, lick the plate clean, then order dessert (like my parents taught me). My dining companions just sigh and look at me like I'm a freak. So why is food regarded as "poison" and why bother ordering if you're not going to eat it. It really bothers me to see wasted food.

"Brethren, do something; do something, do something! While societies and unions make constitutions, let us win souls. I pray you, be men of action all of you. Get to work and quit yourselves like men. Old Suvarov's idea of war is mine: `Forward and strike! No theory! Attack! Form a column! Charge bayonets! Plunge into the center of the enemy! Our one aim is to win souls; and this we are not to talk about, but do in the power of God!'" Charles Spurgeon
