I took a marketing class way back in my first college experience. I didn't want to because I was actually in that college to learn Animal Sciences...but the college in their wisdom decided that they needed to turn out "well rounded" graduates, so some classes were "required". Marketing fell into this category.
I started the class just KNOWING that I was going to be bored out of my skull, having to fight hard to retain enough interest to get a passing grade.
Well, the course really surprised me. IT WAS INTERESTING. I mean, it opened my eyes about the whole business world. Ideas and concepts that had never interested me before were suddenly worth thinking about, and debating with the other students. EACH CLASS ended up being full of lively discussion and wonderful concepts.
It was truly worth the time spent in it. And I really missed it once it was over. It opened my eyes that scientific principals was not the only knowledge worth absorbing.
Take the course. Enjoy it. But be careful, because it just may convince you to change your major!

I took a number of marketing classes in College and loved them all. They're very eye-opening.
The level of difficulty in the Intro course is minimal. It's an overview of marketing. You will learn the ins-and-outs in later courses. They're great too.
I never thought that these courses would follow me through life and help make decisions regarding future purchases, but they certainly have, even today, or rather especially today.
Also, in my work. I used the principals in most of the jobs I have had, at least one time or another. I think that these principals are something that is universal, but most people just don't think of it as marketing because they've never been taught that it is. Look at all of the commercials around you, on TV, billboards, newspapers and magazines. This is marketing.
The really sad part about marketing today is that so few of the marketers, regardless of the area of marketing they're doing, do not choose to market to the Senior population, except for those specialty items such as incontinance products and false teeth creams, etc. Our population is the "age of the future" and where the real money is going to come from due to the aging of the "Baby Boomers", the largest population in history.
Take your class and enjoy it If nothing else, it will add to your education in this life.

I took a marketing class over 40 years ago, and I still have the textbook. When I got ready to invest in the stock market, the information in it was (and is) still relevant.
It seemed to be a fairly easy class, to me.

I taught intro to marketing. The students enjoyed it immensely, learning how uncommon common sense can be. It isnt difficult if you pay attention.

I loved it. We broke up into groups. Each group had to invent and market a car. I failed the final, but got and A in the course.
