If you read the scriptures below, you'll see that in the past as today, all go to the grave= common grave= Sheol = Hades, and finally = KJV Hell.
This is a condition in which the dead are 'asleep.' Some shall never wake up, and others such as Job, etc, shall be resurrected after judgment day, the last day as the Gospels said.
These two links show is by scriptures:
http://bythebible.page.tl/Judgment-%26-Sheol.htm
http://bythebible.page.tl/1-.--Dead__the-condition-of--.---.---.--.htm
------
Job 14:12,13: So man lies down and doesn't rise; Until the heavens are no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep. 13 "Oh that you would hide me in Sheol, That you would keep me secret, until your wrath is past,That you would appoint me a set time, and remember me! (NJB)
Job 3:13-18, For now I should have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept. Then I would have been at rest 14with kings and counselors of the earth, who built waste places for themselves, 15or with rulers who had gold, who filled their houses with silver. 16Or I should have been as a hidden untimely birth, as infants that never saw light. 17There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest. 18There the prisoners are at ease together. They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster (ACV)

no. hell doesn't exist yet.
there are two sides to heaven, currently. they are separated by a gulf. there was a sinner who could see moses in the bosom of abraham across the gulf and pleaded for a drop of water.
the three days that it was supposed that christ was in the grave, he was actually on the other side of the gulf spreading the gospel and many believed.
hell will not exist until the final judgement when the chaff is separated from the wheat. then "the oven" will be set on high and the devil, his preachers and those that believe on him will become as the smoke from a cigarette. in the beginning it will smell a little but quickly the mere thought of that individual puff of smoke will be forgotton. when purification has been accomplished "the oven" will be turned off and the eternity begins.

I'll suspend my disbelief of Hell and the Bible and say this. According to scripture, Jesus said "No one gets to the Father but by me." Maybe they got to go to heaven but don't get to see god?
Also, biblically, if I remember correctly, the ancient jews used to make animal sacrifices in order to cleanse themselves from sin. As long as they did this (I think) they got to heaven. Jesus was supposed to have taken the place of all these animal sacrifices so that people didn't have to do that anymore.
I am an atheist, but I have a pretty strong knowledge of the bible since I used to be a Christian. Saying "shut it" wasn't extremely Christian of you, by the way.

they cease to exist, the spirit or energy of life it is over.
Eclessiates 9:4 "For as respects whoever is joined to all the living there exists confidence, because a live dog is better off than a dead lion. 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun"
Psalms 146:4 "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;
In that day his thoughts do perish!
BUt according to Acts 24:15 " and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. "
Exactly what happens with Lazarus

Jesus did not die for our sins. That was just a story made by his very rich biological family. Why would Jesus, if the son of God, cry out after being crucified "God why have thou forsaken me?" Jesus had no better understanding than any other person that walks the earth. Jesus had his BELIEFS and BELIEVED them to be truth 100%. I have my beliefs and I will die for them as Jesus did but I know that I can never know the 100% truth of what God really is. I believe there is no hell and that realization of a sin followed by guilt and apology to oneself is forgiveness. If you created a universe filled with creatures of all kinds would you create a counter part that would act as a torture for your creation if they lied or killed? I wouldn't think so unless you have darkness in your heart. Since God has no darkness He never created such a place.

Yes they did, but Jesus freed the the captives held there who acknowledged him as the Son of God.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us[e] to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, (1 Pet 3:18-19).

According to Dante in his Divine Comedy, everyone who died before the formation of the church, no matter how good or bad they were could only ever be allowed entry into Limbo, which is the first circle of hell, because they had not been baptised and were, therefor pagans.
As Dante drew his ideas from Church doctrine, you are correct - all humans before Jesus went to the first circle of hell, because they had not been baptised before they died..

Yes, they did but it was for not doing the commandments that were commanded to the jews. Remember when they say that jesus came to attone for the sins of man it means that there must have been some form of commandments before which were the jewish commandments. He basically came to make life easier to connect to god according to the doctrine.

Even Jesus went to hell to preach deliverance to the Spirits of the dead. Only difference is because of His Resurrection we can all be delivered from hell.
the separation of our spirit and body from each other and God is hell.

“There is strong reason to believe that St. Paul fabricated the belief system of Christianity from Zoroastrian mythology. In order to hide Paul’s plaigerism… Christians burned the library of Alexandria in 390 A.D. Books in that library kept Mithra’s original story of what Pauline Doctrine is an almost exact copy. (George Sarton , Introduction to History of Sciences) ,
The Christian Trinity is a copy of the Pagan religion of Rome called Mithraism. Mithra was a half man half god who died for the sins of his followers. Guess what date the SUN god Mithra was born on ? - Thats right ...December 25th
The concept of God having a son is the basis of most Polytheistic religions and the exact opposite of the Abrahamic message of Monotheism. Your Lord is ONE – no partner, no Son , No God incarnate.
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ is the greatest fiction of human history.” (Lord Bishop of Canterbury Commission, the Spiritual Head of England, 1910.)
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ, the Trinity, the blood sacrifice of the lamb of God, atonement are not the teachings of Jesus. These are all inventions of Saint Paul who never really met Jesus.” (Hastings Rashdall, The Theory of Good and Evil)
