Well, Anything which is sin is a forbidden fruit. I would say it's alcohol.. pre-marital sex... the forbidden fruit does not need to be literal, it is anything that leads one into temptation.

That's incorrect.

Judaism and Islam both follow a similar belief that allows them only to eat what Jews call kosher food.

Basically when it comes to meat, they're only allowed to eat land animals that ruminate - that "chew the cud": cows, sheep, goats, etc. Pigs don't do this so they aren't considered kosher.

Similarly, they aren't allowed to eat any sea dwelling creature that doesn't have fins and a tail, basically leaving them with fish, sharks and cetaceans.

The whole thing stems from the illnesses that were linked to eating the things listed above.

So when it comes down to it, pigs aren't "forbidden fruit", they just don't fit the criteria for Jewish/Muslim tradition.

Edit: Additionally, animals have to be prepared in a kosher manner to ensure they are fit for consumption: this stems from improper preperation such as not carefully removing the bowels of an animal and contaminating the carcass with bacteria which in turn lead to disease.

I think that's in Judaism also, unclean beast. I can't really get with the idea that eating pig would be forbidden fruit.

Pork may be forbidden but for me it is not a forbidden fruit. I think it is gross.

Yes, Islam (Mohammadism) copies many Jewish doctrines, including dietary habits. It's a good thing that Muslims (Mohammadeans) who love catfish don't realize that catfish are bottom feeders that not only eat rotten flesh and feces, but also absorb toxic compounds from rivers. That makes catfish WORSE than pork.

Double standard, or just ignorance? You decide.
