AMEN!!!
Here is another quote from Spurgeon:
Ho, ho, sir surgeon, you are too delicate to tell the man that he is ill! You hope to heal the sick without their knowing it. You therefore flatter them; and what happens? They laugh at you; they dance upon their own graves. At last they die! Your delicacy is cruelty; your flatteries are poisons; you are a murderer. Shall we keep men in a fool's paradise? Shall we lull them into soft slumbers from which they will awake in hell? Are we to become helpers of their damnation by our smooth speeches? In the name of God we will not. It becomes every true minister of Christ to cry aloud and spare not, for God hath set a day in which he will "judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." As surely as Paul's gospel was true the judgment will come. - Charles H. Spurgeon

13If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Pretty instense. I picture these people as the ones you see on the streets holding Bibles and preaching and yelling.
If this man felt led by God to try and bring people to Christ in this manner, more power to him. Unfortunately, this type of hard-sell can also turn as many people off as it converts and there are other less intrusive ways to win souls for Christ.

I think that it was a very appropriate, passionate cry for Christians to do the work of the Lord. Rev. Spurgeon lived in the 1800's and that is part of a sermon he preached. He had a very zealous style of preaching and he was a doer not just a talker. Great man.

Absolutely, yes yes yes. WE arent little helpless whinning Christians claiming to be sinners still. God says we are to call ourselves Saints, We are warriors for God now, able to go into Battle by putting on the full armor of God by the power of Jesus Christ, by His shed blood on the cross, and take back this world with the Holy SPirit power. We are born again, if we are truly Christian, and we are to battle for the Lord with all the might and strength He gives to us. March on boldly, without fear or compromise, live truth, speak truth and lets win as many souls as we can for God Kingdom.
Devil doesnt want us to know we have power, but GOD tells us that yes we do, Lets get back to knowing how to truly put on the armour of God and battle for God, stomping on the enemy and every evil principality and power of his , to his ruination. Victory for Lord Jesus, Defeat for the Devil. God says this war has already been won, lets keep it alive till Jesus comes. amen
We are warriors for Jesus , lets remember that, and take back all the devil stole from us. STAND JUST STAND as Jesus stood and as He tells us to STAND. We arent to have a spirit of fear, but a spirit of HOPE, in the Lord JEsus Chrsit.
LEts get starated Christians. oh yeah, so much to celebrate. Jesus is coming soon Lets all be fully ready when He does come. Yum. Passion for Jesus/ You betcha.

He is using Suvarov's quote about war in the fashion of no sitting around and doing nothing in war. Get up and fight.
We are to get up and "fight" for our faith. To constantly train our minds like a soldier trains his body that we may win each battle one-by-one by overcoming our foes with action. Weapons in the form of words. This Q&A is a battle, and we will win it!

I think he's basically restating what is written in the book of Ephesians. Part of the book tells us that we don't fight against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities, and wickedness in high places. It also tells us that our weapons are not like the weapons that the world uses. In fact, the Christian's only offensive weapon is the Word of God. Peace.

excellent quote. I cant imagine why anyone would object to someone encouraging people to grow up and be men rather than children. Why would anyone get angry over being encouraged to be anxiously engaged in a good cause?

You do recognize this is use of symbolic language, right? He means boldly share your faith and make the world a better place...don't just sit around and chat about doing it, go out and do it. I think it's a great sentiment!
