If you saw a post from a 12-year-old girl saying she's suicidal and asking if she might be depressed, and you check her profile to see how long this has been going on (has she asked other questions about depression), and you find a post from TWO hours earlier saying she didn't know how to tell her mom that her period had started, and another message from ONE hour earlier asking if it was abnormal for her period to not have started yet, would that raise your eyebrows just a little bit?
Do I smell a rat, or a troll?

Beth, I didn't "investigate", I went to her profile out of concern to see if I could learn anything about how long she's been depressed, has it been consistent or on-and-off, and whether she blamed herself for things that had happened in her life. It wasn't until I saw her posting history that red flags started to go up.

Dale, I wondered the same thing. I have a 12 year old daughter (with 12 year old friends), and this person doesn't act or talk/write like a tween.

Ain't misbehaven, yes, I was 12 once. My mom had died two years earlier and I had no-one to talk to about it; I told my (abusive) dad I needed pads, and life went on. I had learned what I needed to know at school - and I know schools teach more now today about maturation than they did 30-some-odd years ago. And I never got confused about whether or not it had started, asking about how to tell him it had - then wondering if it was normal that it hadn't.

Oh! I forgot to mention that in responding directly to the posts, I addressed the questions asked and did not accuse her of lying or trolling. Just in case.
p.s. I'm in my 40s, thanks for saying that's young. It's been a while. ;o)

Hi,
If this girl is 12, then she is not even supposed to be on Y!Answers. Kids under 13 are not allow on this site. You could always report her.

sounds like this girl needs or craves some attention
maybe she has parent/s who have their own issues
and havent any time to properly listen to her
if she is asking the same question twice, she probably wants more feedback because she doesnt have a clue what to ask or how to put it,she needs someone to tell her rather than her ask,i would keep an open mind, and answer her questions seriously because she may be in a turmoil of some sort or another,if she is an attention seeker and putting these questions up for a private giggle, then all you would have done is give her that giggle, its a small price for you to pay, but just in case she is being truthful you may help her enormously its a decision you and your consience will have to decide for yourself,on this site you can generally read between the lines if someone is real or being silly,it comes with age and expeirience in life and in general,so i guess you are quite young yourself,by your question,i hope this helps you decide what to do,if you dont want the responsibility of it,and you think you are not the best person to help her, then dont, but if it is going to keep tugging at you and you keep thinking about it,then do,for your own peace of mind

I see your point. Something is going on back at home. It is not possible that so many 12,13,14 years old are talking about depression, suicide and taking prescription medicine for everything under the sun,
Is it that instead of parents talking and trying to build a relation with their kids they to opt ignore the problem and the easy way...the adult way...we are depressed..then take a drug to ease the pain..
Kids are being raised incapable of facing life with its many obstacles...
So, now the US is not only going to be known as "fat land", but as "psycho land" ...
It is time to wake up and start caring for each other, because the others are laughing their a....off. Our nation should not be in this position...people is the resource of a nation...Wake up, and help others!!!

in accordance to the media, they weren't the comparable individuals of seal team 6. My experience is that it grow to be a planned ambush by way of the Taliban - very nearly an intelligence coup you may desire to declare. it particularly is tough to have confidence the accident of this happening so close to to bin ladens loss of life. i think of they set up an issue on the floor.. a firefight, that they knew the U. S. might respond in such a trend understanding how we function.. probable had spies on the airbase come across which helicopter the seal team boarded. Or it in simple terms might desire to all be accident.

live and let live. its easier if everyone could do this. she's thousands of miles away from you so don't let her raise your blood pressure. it could also be a detective trying to lure pedophiles...

It's a shame that you took the time to make this 'investigation'.
Sounds like an investigation to me, but whatever, it's your free time. Thanks for the thumbs down sweethearts.
