Is it ok to go to a non-catholic church from time to time.
I have found that some evangelical churches are very sincere and I do like the quality of the music.

In some cases the worship music will last for 30 minutes and it is very relective and helps focus on God.

Only issue I can see is with the sermon and possibility that the Pastor will use his own experience to make "truths" out of his interpretation of the bible.

Does anyone think it would be wrong to go or would it be better to stick to the catholic groups.

It may be a good way to encourage people to think a little more as well. Certainly as dialogue develops, I am not saying that I would go with the purpose of "enlightening" or "converting" people.

What do you think -

Is there really a physical world or is it all emulated in the mind? IF all that we sense is processed within the mind then could in theory could anything be possible? What are the laws of physics? Can they ever be cracked? If you are born blind, deaf, mute, cant smell, cant taste, cant feel... how do you explain your existance?

As they say... that logical thinking is handled on the left side of the brain while creative thinking is on the right... could religion and science basically just be a conflict between the 2 sides?

Should we just live our happy "physical" little lives without bothering to know who, where, when, how, what is this place that we call life. Because in 100+ years from now its not going to matter because we all should be dead "in theory"?

PS: WOW! thats some deep sh*t. Need to take a breather.. but yea... opinions are certainly welcome...

The KJV Bible is known for being comprised of 66 books. The old testament has 39 books and the new testament 27books yet no way in the old testament the words christ and christian can be found. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the word Christians is not found. Never in scripture we read where Immanuel (they called Jesus) ever called his disciples, apostles or followers Christians. In Bible college I was told that in the book of acts chapter 11:26 is where it is mentioned that the disciples were first called Christians. My question is by whom and why? If so called Christians were to study the etymology of the word Christ and learn that it derived from the Greek Christos which derived from the Hindu Krishna would have second thought of why they were never educated by their Pastors or television evangelists about their savior is of Greek gentile name and they are called after such title as Christians. Unfortunately, Christians are often taught by hear say not study.

on thier faith instead of researching and finding the answer? Would this not drive away someone truly searching for answers instead of drawing them closer to god? Why not answer in a respectfull manner what you believe and why instead?

Then why do people follow the bible? The recent book, Misquoting Jesus, clearly shows to anyone who reads it, that the bible is mostly falsified and made up over 2000 years by translators and scribes. The rest is just borrowed from the Pagan religion and the story of Mithras.

Yet people still follow the bible. Why? Would you rewire all the electrical wire in your home using a book that was falsified? Would you learn to fly a plane with a manual that was mostly made up? Would you perform heart surgery on someone if all you ever studied was contradictory medical books?

I don’t get it. Sounds like desperation to me.

For those of you who insist that the bible in not contradictory:

It is my belief that If you need faith, it's what works for you. I am fortunate to have been brought up to have spirtuality and faith, but unlike some religions, I don't believe "everyone" has that potential to have faith and that is why we must have faith for them. This includes children of severe autism or from severe dysfunctional violent cultures. If you are speaking of the average person (being someone of a high enough IQ and global awareness functioning score of someone who understands life reasonably) then still you must take in account dynamics of many degrees. Describe your search for what is good for you to fulfill your needs for spirituality and faith. For me, I am just really glad I had a grandmother who took the time to explain faith to me and was there until I became pregnant at 25 with my own first child. I miss her, but will always remember her for the faith she instilled in me.

WTF is up with this Religion? I've never heard of this sort of thing in this magnitude with any of the other religions.

Not bashing, but seriously, it's not looking good for Catholic Priests nowadays...

You will you still get into heaven if you are a gnostic if you believe in Jesus teachings? I would have to say I'm more gnostic than anything else. Because I believe as God's children we can do as christ did.

Serious question for serious answerers. I hear alot of Atheists who are apparently angry at the God they don't belive in (coming form things they say, not my own assumptions), so I am wondering if you found it for sure that he was real, would you still not be his follower, or would you try to follow him just so you have fire insurance, or maybe would you seriously try to get to know him?

I am curious for a reason, yes.

I think that anytime we see a Christian write a question that is very hateful or inflammatory against any non Christian group, we should just respond with "What would Jesus do?"

yet, when we turn on the news, there is always something about sexual abuse in catholic churches?

$660 million was given to over 500 victims of sexual abuse that occurred with catholic priests from the 1940s to the 1990s.

I don't understand how the Pope has the right to tell other Christians that their denominations are untrue.

God sent Jesus to simplify the way we worship him, yet in Catholicism, there are so many levels of leadership, so many complex ways to worship God. What gives the Pope the right to say which ways of worship are right and wrong, especially when the catholic church is in the news a lot for sinful acts committed by catholic priests?

According to the "Idiots Guide to the Koran" page 58 "In the Koran, Jesus himself explicity renounces any effort to portray him as God or as the Son of God: When God asked Jesus, son of Mary "Did you tell men to consider you and your mother as their gods besides God?" He replied, "Glory be to you! How could I say what I have no right to say? Had I ever said it, you would have certainly known about it. You know what is in my soul, but I do not know what is in Yours. It is You who have absolute knowlege of the unseen." Koran 5:116
Now in the Christian Scriptures John 1 "In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." In other scripture Jesus says, "I and the Father are one" Didn't Jesus say, "Before Abraham was, I am." "I am" being a word for God?
Do you see how Islam manipulates the ideas of Jesus to suit its own causes? Didn't St. Paul say that those who denied that Jesus came in the Flesh (as God) were the antiChrists?
