According to the "Idiots Guide to the Koran" page 58 "In the Koran, Jesus himself explicity renounces any effort to portray him as God or as the Son of God: When God asked Jesus, son of Mary "Did you tell men to consider you and your mother as their gods besides God?" He replied, "Glory be to you! How could I say what I have no right to say? Had I ever said it, you would have certainly known about it. You know what is in my soul, but I do not know what is in Yours. It is You who have absolute knowlege of the unseen." Koran 5:116
Now in the Christian Scriptures John 1 "In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." In other scripture Jesus says, "I and the Father are one" Didn't Jesus say, "Before Abraham was, I am." "I am" being a word for God?
Do you see how Islam manipulates the ideas of Jesus to suit its own causes? Didn't St. Paul say that those who denied that Jesus came in the Flesh (as God) were the antiChrists?

No, I would not be suprised. Jesus in the bible never stated he was God, rather the son of God.

There are two major opinions of this topic. The first is that Jesus (AS) did not actually die but his body and soul were lifted straight up to heaven when he was placed on the cross and that what was left was just an image, a copy. The second, and more credible, is that one of Jesus' deciples agreed to take his place on the cross when they were all gathered at the Garden of Gethsemane, then Jesus (AS) led the person away and touched him and the person was transfigured to resemble Jesus while the real Jesus (AS) ascended to heaven and this is why we find Jesus in the Bible begging for God to take the burden away, because the person is scared. A variation of this is taken that Judas was punished for betraying Jesus and that when he kissed Jesus on the face, they switched appearances and Judas (looking like Jesus) was led away while the real Jesus (AS) was left to ascend to Heaven directly. The Qur'an isn't clear and all these interpretations are based on different Hadith and construing bits of historical data here and there. The Qur'an leaves it simply enough to let us know that Jesus (AS) did not die, but it was made to appear as though he had and THAT is all which Allah wishes for us to know at this time. Nothing else is important except that Jesus (AS) has not died and that he will return on the Day of Judgment.

Would you be surprised if I told you that many of the books in the Qu'ran were original biblical stories that didn't make it into the finally canonization of the bible? Many of the books in the Qu'ran were gnostic stories, that were popular among Arab Jews & Christians before they canonized the Old & New Testaments. Don't you see how your mamipulating the ideas of Jesus to suit your own cause? Muslims believe in Jesus Christ, they may not believe the exact same as Christians believe, but you do have that in common. In fact there are a lot of Christians that don't recongize Jesus as God but just as the Son of God.

Yes, I read the Koran some time ago. I think its important to believe in Jesus to attain salvation. Failing to trust in Him may block the possibility of salvation for most. Hence its not surprising religions appear that make out that Jesus is just a mere prophet, whose teaching was corrupted, and present moral teaching that is quite attractive as it is partly right. Satan uses violence to bother people, but also uses deception to deceive.

As the Koran was written specifically to deny the biblical accounts because of Ishmael, why would that be a surprise.
Would it surprise you if Islam actually did become the new world order religion?

Why would I be surprised to find that the book written 200 yrs after Christ lived by an illiterate merchant says that. Of course you know that the first hand accounts of those who were actually around when he was alive were way off, amazing huh? :-D

No. I am not surprised that the Koran depicts Jesus as someone who denies he is God, because the Koran is anti-Christian. Scripture says that anybody denies that Jesus is God in the flesh is of the spirit of antichrist. That should tell you something about Islam and the Koran.
They make up their own fables and pass it on as though they were true!
That sounds to me like intellectual suicide, when you believe your own lies!

I've known this but I don't believe that the Koran is inspired, it is jsut biblical works rewritten with apocryphal materials thrown in.

"Didn't Jesus say, "Before Abraham was, I am." "I am" being a word for God? "
How does that mean anything other than before any man existed, there was God? How does that say Jesus is God?
