Hi, I am a non-denominational Christian.
If you read Rev 2, you will see that out of 7 Churches, Christ only approves of 2 in the whole bunch, and those two he approves of both taught the exact same thing.
I have found only ONE Church in over 30 years that teaches what they teach.
Anyway, about the Catholics (I was brought up Catholic) I have given thought to this, and I suspect that because back in the day,
if a man didn't marry by the time he was mid-twenties, people normally suspected something was up. I think that these molesting priests were always homosexual and became priests to hid the fact. After all, who is going to question a Priest for not marrying, right?
Just a thought......
The whole entire affair is disgusting and vile; not only the molesting Priests, but also
those in the leadership roles who allowed it to continue for years and years....these are
the ones who should not be protected behind payouts - there should have been some kind of agreement that the prosecution would allow the payout but only under conditions that each and every single one of the leaders who were aware of it
would be defrocked and also labeled as "child risks" so that they can never, ever be in a position where they can make decisions that would in any way affect children. As for those priests who did the actual molesting - they should have the same risk label on them, and in addition they should have been put under life-time
probation and Court-mandated psychiatric
treatment at their own expense.
Those prosecuters could have written anything they wanted into this agreement,
but it seems they think a payout of money
is all they need to do; I disagree and find
the whole thing a horror.
Do you know about Gilead? Well, Gilead was a town that was supposed to be of the Benjamites, but more importantly, it was a town of supposedly good Priests and House of God. When a person traveled there, it was known as a place of safety, where you would not have to worry about anything bad happening to you; you were in the safety of the Priests themselves.
What happened there? That very place where you should feel safe and protected,
people were being ripped off and damaged by the PRIESTS THEMSELVES.
Read Hosea 6:8 - 10;
God says the Priest themselves were murdering, thieving, and lewd.
God also states that the 10 tribes who went North over the Caucus Mountains, being known as "caucasions", settling Europe then eventually the USA, Canada, and the other Free Christian Nations of the World -
these are those who do THE SAME THING. THATS US, FRIEND.
DOES IT SOUND FAMILIAR THAT IN A PRIESTS RECTORY A PARENT WOULD FEEL THEIR KID HAS SAFETY?
Were these victims safe at the Church of
God, or does this remind you of a town, called Gilead??????????????????
Gods Word is coming to pass exactly as its written; its like reading tomorrows newspaper.

Stop! Seriously, It's not just priests, It's everyone, Molestation isn't just confide to a Church. I mean if a cop molested a child would you think all cops molest kids. Do you know the ratio of Priests and molestations? The statistics aren't that high. I mean if you have say 300,000 Priests in the world and you read of 30 cases of molestation in the news over a given number of years, Yes to you it might seem like an out of control problem. the statistics on the other hand don't indicate much of a problem. I am an atheist but I think molestation in general has to stop.

If you've not heard of these things in other religions you have not looked hard enough.
The catholic church has a long history of molesting kids. Now it's a few priests and a few boys.... there was a time when they routinely molested young girls and then burned them at the stake as witches. Read the Malleus Maleficarum if you ever want to freak yourself out about how badly the church has treated women.
As for other religions look what Islam does to their kids... not all of them of course but more muslim kids have guns in their hands than catholic boys have .... well you know.
These are problems inherent to believing things that are pretend are really true. (Or pretending that they are.) All religions throughout history have had these problems.
Heck, if you want to see some big examples of mistreatment of kids look no further than the bible. Kids are killed in it all the time. "Happy are those that dash the little ones against the stones." That's from a verse describing the delight of killing babies by smashing them against rocks.

Well here is the thing, the Catholic church was arguably one of the worlds largest and most powerful dynasties that there has ever been and they have been protecting themselves from within. It has also been recently uncovered that the church is a perfect place for a deviant of that nature to hide amongst society. Fear of undermining a spiritual official has kept people quiet for so long but thanks to the media it has been blown wide open. These kinds of terrible acts have always occurred throughout history but have never been made as public as they are now.
p.s. If you want to see an abhorrent account of Catholicism, check out the Magdalene Sisters....really disgusting in parts.

Catholics just appear to be large numbers because they are organized.
In my town, the nondenoms are the Christians raping little boys....
But as far as %ages go, public schoolteachers are WAY worse than Catholics.
http://www.bestattorney.com/clergy-abuse.html says:
"While the Catholic Church's sexual abuse scandals have made headlines, it's far from the only religious organization that has been accused of harboring sexual abusers. Abuse by non-Catholic clergy may not get as much attention, but the shock waves from their actions run just as deep through the lives of victims and their families. While comprehensive statistics aren't available, experts suggest that abuse is likely common among other clergy. A 1992 survey of Protestant ministers across denominations said 37 percent of ministers admitted to "inappropriate sexual contact" with parishioners. In another survey, that number for Southern Baptists in particular was 14 percent. The Conservative Rabbinical Assembly reports that 30 percent of the rabbis who changed jobs in 2000 did so involuntarily, with sexual abuse often a factor"
(By the way, the John Jay report said it was 4% of catholic clergy...making that Catholic priest WAY safer than those above)

Honestly? I think it's just that this has gotten the medias attention b/c of the fact that it's connected to religion. Because the truth is, children are getting molested all over the world, millions of them. It's nothing new. What about the grandpa who won't stop? Or the father? Or the babysitters? Or the teachers? YOu know what I mean? This is just the latest the news has picked up on.

Well it's not the religion that condones the action, however the religion does seem to protect those that commit it.
Think about this....your a pedophile (you like little boys, or little girls, or whatever). How can you increase your exposure to them, gain their trust, and at the same time get some type of protection form crimial prosecution if you get caught?
You got it, the church!!!
Let's face it, the Catholic church among all of it's other functions, is a secret pedophile society.

I'm not Catholic but I believe part of the problem is that the Roman Catholic Church doesn't permit its priests to marry. Men denied of sex are not the most trustworthy people to have around someone who is looking to a priest for counseling. This includes any religion that forbids the marrying of its leaders.

This is not new...it has been happening for many many years...just before my father passed away last year he told me that he was assaulted when he was 10 years old and an alter boy....he was 74 yeas old when he died....
It wasn't discussed because the church paid off people to be quiet...it is the church that is corrupt...
maybe seeing how the church will not allow priests to marry they should castrate all men that want to become priests...just a thought

Unfortunately, this is one of my problems with the Catholic religion. God made man after his own image. All men and women have natural sexual urges and should be allowed to follow them, that means priests should be allowed to marry and go forth and multiply like normal human beings. The church is what makes them abstain, not God. It is not normal for a man or a woman to abstain from sex, and it shouldn't be withheld from them to find a mate and settle down AND share the word of God. That's why there are so many cases of abuse in the Catholic religion and very little found in other religions. By making them abstain and raising them above the normal man is putting them in a position where they can abuse the power instilled in them by the CHURCH not God.
The problem is caused by man, by their unreasonable expectations from a mere mortal.
