gotta_be_kidding_me speaks truth .
Whether this Pope is the False Prophet or not, I cannot say, but that he is preparring the way, as is all the major Leaders and Countries that are to be involved are ALSO showing their hands at building the stage for what is to be seems unquestionably true to what has been prophesied about in the BIBLE.
Taken individually, it seems unsettling but "to be expected" that there be wars over religion and land and power.
Taken as a whole, it is more than "unsettling", it is absolutely "uncanny" to those of us whom have studied the Bible, to look at and force ourselves NOT to jump to conclusions and create more havoc then there already is.
My mind says there are quite a few years before the stage is completed, but once the False Prophet is "named".... and believe me, the Holy Spirit will let all know it, once named, there is just a short time left for those God deems HIS to be upon this earth....after that, anyone whom had waited before choosing God will have to go through hell on earth and will have less freedom in seeking God as we do now, and many will die by all the plagues and all the ways of death possible that has been in the History of our world.
I'm beginning to wonder about the role of the Catholic Church though. Is it possible that instead of presenting the RCC as the one true religion which is for the False Prophet and antichrist to be supported by, could it be satan is destroying one CHURCH at a time and STARTING with the RCC?
It would devistate a LARGE portion of the world's Christians and leave them lost and ready for a "savior".
Would be a ploy I find satan would "devilishly" delight in making the Pope "think" he would have more power and instead find a knife in his back after complying with satan's plans?
Yeah, I know, sounds like a Hollywood script...but think about it....wouldn't, COULDN'T satan USE that to his advantage?
Doubt many read this loooong answer...but those of you whom do,
God be with you! :)

The first Pope of the Roman church was certainly Not the Apostle Peter, this is a deception of the Roman church to get more people to follow them and to accept her man-made doctrine. Sadly it has worked, because there are millions of Roman Catholics in the world to date. Although the Roman church's Catholics may say that they don't believe that there are antichrist walking the earth right now, that too is a lie and a part of her deception. The Bible is clear that there are antichrist among us. However, it will be the ultimate Antichrist that will cause the beginning of the end I don't think that he will be Catholic. Scriptures say that he will come out of the desert, Assyria and even though the Roman church's hand stretches far it doesn't control the desert and her people. The Roman church and her Popes may teach a false and man-made doctrine, but she is not the Antichrist of Daniel and Revelation. Be Blessed:-)

I think he's moving a piece on the universal prophetic chess board - specifically in the direction of a one-world religion (albeit a false one). The picture of our world continues to change, in fascinating fashion, toward total alignment with the end-time prophetic picture painted in the Bible.
The Antichrist will rule with one world governent, one world currency, and one world religion. I don't think there is any other religion that has the history, power, money, or organizational structure to become THE world religion.
Many people will read this and say, "come on, we'll all never have the same religion", and that's true. Christians won't participate in this one-world religion because we will all be gone. Notice I didn't say Christian churches will all be gone. Many people who regulary attend Christian churches will be surprised to find themselves still here. If your answer to the question "How do you know you're a Christian" is all about you (I go to church, I'm a good person, I don't abuse my kids, etc.) and nothing about the finished work of Christ, then your salvation doctrine is in error and you are in peril. Not my words, His words.
LOOK UP, PEOPLE!

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

With love in Christ.

Every Catholic person I know believes that his/her religion is the one and only.....I find my self to be a modified Christian....I dont believe that i should have to confess my sins to a priest and then go say 10 hail marys to go to heaven! I believe that i can Pray and Jesus will Forgive!! I agree why does the pope believe taht Catholicism is the only true religion....That is not right! He will be the one burning in Hell b/c people that are catholic basically worship him and that is considered idol worshipping!! I believe one of the commandments addresses that!!

Well, I've got to say, I've never seen a CATHOLIC claim "love the sinner hate the sin" was a Bible verse, so maybe they've got something?
It's only because non-Catholic churches don't have such organizations that it seems like it's Catholics.
In my city we have reports of 2 kids molested by one Catholic priest, and we have reports of over 100 molested by 9 "non-denominational" evangelical church workers.

I don't know why the Pope says that but I hope he's wrong. I'm a Christian but I do not claim any denomination. I'm neither Catholic or Protestant or I am both Catholic and Protestant, however you'd like to look at it.

Jesus said where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name. That is the definition of church is for me. Not a building or a denomination.

The Roman churches have been saying things like this for centuries. This is nothing new. Their scandals and public rejection are nothing new either.
But they have the Jesuits, a well developed Propaganda machine, and millions of blind followers. The Whore of Babylon is not going anywhere. She is still drinking the blood of the saints.

For those that do not know it, the Catholic church was the starters of the idea that they were the only true church.
