So here's a thought experiment in realizing how long eternity is. Imagine you have a nice durable spoon, and enough time to eat your house, one bite at a time.

Then, you spoon up your state. All that wonderful chewy soil and rock, one bite at a time.

You move on to the earth, spooning up one tastey morsel after another for untold billions of years until you're done. Then you move on to the sun, for a real meal.

This hasn't taken up much of eternity, so you turn your spoon against the galaxy, and then the rest of the universe. One bite at a time, you digest everything that exists.

Congratulations, you still have as much time left as you started with.

Now don't you think at some point between here and Andromeda, you'd think, "wow, this whole eternity thing sucks, I wish I didn't exist?"

You know the phrase "be careful what you wish for?" You better hope that you're wrong about God. I'd hate to be forced to exist forever. It'd get awful dull after a while.

Okay just to clarify I am NOT a CHRISTIAN I am an AGNOSTIC.

Now I am WONDERING how you can KNOW people are wrong. If a CHRISTIAN claims to have had a spiritual experience or revelation WHY do you just automatically ASSUME that they are DELUDED or have PSYCHOLOGICAL or mental problems? What if they actually did have that experience? Who are YOU to judge??

If "God is love," why would he want anyone to burn forever? I've had many people tell me I'm going to hell because I don't believe exactly the same way they do. Is that the unadulterated manifestation of Christian love?

How can I get my daughter out of wicca?
My daughter has joined a devil cult called wicca. I'm a god fearing man and I don't know what to do about it. She's stopped bathing and started drawing pentagrams (which my pastor told me are devil footprints) on her school books.

If this doesn't stop I may have to ground her or lock her in her room until she changes her mind. I've tried ministering to her, and invited my friends over to help, but we can't seem to shift this dark cover over her.

Does anyone here know how to get my daughter out of this trash and help her on the road to recovery and a normal, healthy life?
God Bless You All

The Bible's First Commandment is usually translated as 'I am the Lord Thy God. Thou shalt have no false gods before me, for I am a jealous God.' There is no commandment there to have a true God ('I am the Lord Thy God' and 'for I am a jealous God' are statements, not commandments). But 'Thou shalt have no false gods before me' is clearly a commandment, and seemingly the only way to be sure not to have any false gods is not to have any gods - that is, to be a godless atheist. As some sort of agnostic myself, I may well not be godless enough, but then as an agnostic I don't trust Biblical Commandments (hey, for all I know, they could be Satanic attempts to turn agnostics like me into atheists!). But Christians and Jews presumably ought to take their own First Commandment more seriously than I do. So wouldn't they be 'safer' becoming atheists? And if not, why not? And why couldn't 'God' have been less perversely ambiguous when giving Moses His First Commandment on Mount Sinai?

I have a personal website that, when I checked the stats on, I found out that it is getting hits from another person's blog...the thing is that person and I are not really friends anymore and to be honest the only way someone could find my site is 1) if I told them personally about it or 2) they actually google my name. No way did I tell him about it. And I find it freaky that he is searching for me online.
My question is...is there any etiquette on linking to other people's websites just like that without even asking? Is it right of me to ask him to take off the link?

So I'm taking a trip from the Southeast to Provo, UT (I'm driving). While I'm looking forward to travelling, I'm concerned about the drive out there. We'll either be going through Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado (routes 40, 35, 70) or going through Missouri, Nebraska, and Wyoming (routes 55, 70, and 80). We'll most likely be stopping through small towns in the middle of nowhere, and I'm a little concerned that I'm going to have to deal with a lot of racists. I know it's terrible to stereotype, but I'm not White or Black, and I'm thinking my family may be the only non White or Black family walking around in a lot of these places. We may stop in Tulsa, OK or Cheyenne, WY, and it's hard not to think that a lot of the people in those areas aren't racists. I encounter a lot of it in the south, and I'm thinking it'll be worse in the mid-west (since it seems less diverse than even the south). Should I be concerned? Also, which is a better route: 40, 35, 70 or 55, 70, and 80 road-wise?

Who is the atheist accountable to, if a loved one in a life death situation asks for advice, and the atheist gives it, and it results in the other human person "pulling the plug". (In this case the atheist advised take the surgery, stay alive, but if the pain is too great, I will always love you and support you)

The atheist does not ask, "God, Am I my brothers keeper".

Who does the atheist ask this question to?

Suppose you become a Bible sceptic and see corruption and prejudice towards you everywhere. You let your husband bring you to his beloved church. When you hear the sermon you want to punch the preacher for his insulting words masked as Bible teaching but he's got a big smile on his face and has no idea you feel this way. His wife hugs you afterwards. You can't just leave because these are friends of your husband. You don't hate them.

You believe that Jesus would want you to love even your enemies so you know you've got to try to be friendly even though you know, the questions will come and also the stares when people find out that you don't believe as they do.

It's a waste of time for them to try to change you and vice versa. You already know that they wouldn't understand if you try to explain it. They'd think you have a rebellious spirit and it's better to avoid you but you can't help wanting to show them who you truly are and wish they believed the same. What then?

Because we can see stars billions of light years away? This is not true, there are 3 leading explanations for that. One is that they aren't billions of light years away, they only appear that way according to the warped perspective which is called the 'Ames affect'.

The second explanation is that the speed of light is under God's control, obviously, so He simply sped up the light to reach us.

The third explanation is that we exist at the center of the universe in a gravity well, which in a way works as a vacuum, drawing the light towards us incredibly rapidly. All 3 theories are perfectly logical.

The Crusades and the inquisition were a terrible time in history for sure. Is comparing terrorism of today with the Crusades and inquisitions a way of saying "look they did it 1000 years ago so I guess they have a right to do it today"? Is it a way of saying "How can we judge those poor radical Islamic terrorist for doing what they do when Christians did horrible things 1000 years ago"? I think we should just skip the historical comparisons and just accept the fact that today's ring of terrorism is just wrong and needs to stop.

In Ireland Catholics and Protestants are fightind , In Iraq Shia and Sunni are fighting, In Srilanka Tamils are fighting. In my personal view there are two basic reasons
Lack of freedom of expression
Unjustice
I dont think religion is the basic problem but my personal view is that it is the misuse of religion for political beneficals.
All opinions are welcomed but my personal request is that there should no insult to any religion.
Peace and Blessings
