If Jesus was Michael, why didn't God send Michael into Mary? Instead he sent his spirit (The Holy Spirit). Why did the angel tell Mary to name him "Jesus" (God with us) instead of Michael (Like The Lord)? These seem to be two completely seperate meanings. You have one LIKE God, then you have one that says God With Us.... If it was Michael, shouldn't his name be "The One Like God WIth Us"? Why "Jesus" and not Michael? Why the name/meaning change?

Do you:

1. Pray to god for him
2. Believe it's all part of gods plan, and walk away
3. Let another person assist him because you think that's part of gods plan OR
4. Assist him even thoughy ou know you may be interfering with gods plan and it could have been any of you.

How do you know that it's not god's plan for someone else to help? Or if you're supposed to help? Do you pray first for guidance? Wouldn't god be pretty p***ed if you interfered with his plan?

What is the point of "eternal life," really? Why do you want to be around forever, and why does God want you to be around forever? Do you really think you're so special and interesting that the cosmos needs you to sit around the place from here to infinity?

Be honest, aren't you just afraid of death and invented this "eternal life" business as a way to get around it, and isn't it pretty worthless solution if you have to die to get there anyway?

Here's the scenario. There's an elderly couple, the wife is a Christian, the husband is not. The husband is on his deathbed. The wife desperately wants our church to speak to him about God. This would not be the first time we will have spoken to him.

So the question is, who's wishes do we respect? His, because he's dying and probably doesn't want to hear from us? Or hers because she's desperate for us to talk to him and she's been with our church for a long time?

Please do NOT give me answers simply based on whose theology (or non-theology) you agree with.

Well I have this friend and well.....he flirts with me. I mean he tells me that he loves me and things like that. I posted a bulletin on myspace where anyone could ask me one dirty question and that I would tell the truth. He asked me if I would have hot sex with him, I said "um.......sure, why not" then he posted the same thing and I aked the same question. He said "**** yeah". I just dont know if he is playing around or what?!?! What should I do?

I was talking to my agnostic (athiest?) dad the other day (I'm 37, he's 58). He is intelligent and compassionate, and is active in serving the poor in his community. When we talk about spirituality/religion (God), he and I speak a different language.

To my dad, religion is ridiculous. He uses many of the same argumets athiests use at this site.

For me, my faith/religion is not about "believing ridiculous things" or being "scared to die" (as my dad would say) but rather connecting with a truth/spirit that never fails to alter my troubled heart.

While my father and other athiests simpy see religion as a means of control and containing a bunch of unbelievable stories, many of us cannot imagine living a life without the Spirit, without a connection to the divine.

When you REALLY know Him; you CAN'T stop talking about His Love, His grace, the peace that He has planted inside of you.
Ironically, it's amazing that those that "oppose" God, CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM EITHER!!
Even enemies of the cross can't stop talking about Him. Of course, they're talking about Him is to their OWN destruction.
But yet and still, these souls are compelled to have Jesus on theire minds DAILY, on their lips, on their "finger tips" (peckin' away on their little keyboards). He IS amazing!

Luke 24:42 says: "And they gave him [Jesus] a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them."

If Jesus turned water into white wine, then he's OK, as white wine goes with fish. If he turned water into red wine, do you think those at the Last Supper were whispering to one another, "How uncouth"?

im 30 years old and this is my ultimate dream, so i dont wanna be told i cant do it.....but i know it wont be easy because ive had a hard life with alot of trauma and abuse, and i also have borderline personality disorder..im waiting for psychotherapy right now, i just wanna work on my problems and accomplish this goal and dream of mine....
how can i do it? can it be done if i try to work hard?
i desperatly dont wanna stay in england so i dont wanna get told that i can't.
i wanna move away and build a new life, and find a loving girlfriend.
i dont want anyone to interfere with my life, my hopes and dreams, neither do i wanna interfere with anyone else, i just wanna go my own way and build a new life....at this stage, i need empowerment on how to reach these goals.
