If Jesus was Michael, why didn't God send Michael into Mary? Instead he sent his spirit (The Holy Spirit). Why did the angel tell Mary to name him "Jesus" (God with us) instead of Michael (Like The Lord)? These seem to be two completely seperate meanings. You have one LIKE God, then you have one that says God With Us.... If it was Michael, shouldn't his name be "The One Like God WIth Us"? Why "Jesus" and not Michael? Why the name/meaning change?

Response to KEIICHI:
All CAPS are my words (not yelling)

1. Jesus was first called "Like the Lord" when he worked with his father in the creation of the Heavens and Earth. - Col 1:16
THIS VERSE DOES NOT SAY THAT HE'S CALLED "LIKE THE LORD."

2. Jesus was called "Chief Messenger" when he was Jehovah's spokesmen or "Word of God". - Ex 3:2
THIS CHAPTER SHOWS THIS "ANGEL OF THE LORD" WAS GOD NOT MICHAEL: 3:6 "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." AND IT REMAINS GOD SPEAKING THROUGHOUT.

3. Jesus was called "God is with us" when he represented his father on Earth. - John 1:18, 6:46 CORRECT. HIS NAME IS "GOD WITH US" NOT "MICHAEL WITH US"

4. Jesus was then called "Mighty God" after his resurrection. -Is 9:6 IN YOUR OWN WORDS.. HE'S "MIGHTY GOD."

Then why did Jesus say "I Am" and "I and the Father are ONE", and "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last", and "Even before Abraham, I Am", and "If you have seen Me, you have seen THE FATHER ALSO" Read John 1:1-5!!!!!!!
Jesus is the WORD. When Jesus was on the earth, He accepted worship, and forgave sins. Only God can do that!!!
Jesus is not just God's messenger. HE IS GOD INCARNATE, GOD IN THE FLESH, GOD ALMIGHTY, MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH. THE ONE TRUE GOD. You will find that out when He returns, unless you see the truth now. He will be back for His Bride, ALL BELIEVERS IN HIM, NOT JUST JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. YOU ARE VERY SADLY MISLED, AND NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH. The Bible tells us that anyone who doesn't believe Jesus as who He claims to be is of the antichrist. Remove the scales from your eyes, people. Repent, and be saved. JESUS IS GOD.

Your definition of Michael's name is almost complete. A Jewish interpreter shared with me that the name actually is both a question and an exclamation. Thus, it is: "Who is like the LORD?!" Therefore, wherever Michael appears, he is making a statement to the powers and principalities of that realm. His mere presence is a challenge to darkness.

Another clue: There is no biblical record of Michael (or any of the angels/messengers for that matter) accepting worship. Whenever someone tried to bow and worship them, they immediately rebuked them. Jesus Christ (God with us The Annointed One), on the other hand DID accept worship (Mary Magdalene washing His feet w/her tears and drying them with her hair is an example) and declared: "I and the Father are One".

The Bible clearly states that the Pharisees became enraged and wanted to kill Him for "blaspheming" by making Himself equal to God.

The jw's doctrine that Jesus and Michael are one and the same is just speculation b/c it is not supported by the Biblical record.

Jesus has different titles depending on what his current assignment is or what he is doing.

1. Jesus was first called "Like the Lord" when he worked with his father in the creation of the Heavens and Earth. - Col 1:16

Edit: Jesus is the Image of the Lord God Jehovah and thus he is like him.

2. Jesus was called "Chief Messenger" when he was Jehovah's spokesmen or "Word of God". - Ex 3:2 - "angel of the LORD"

Edit: Incorrect. Angel of God or a Messager of God not God himself.

3. Jesus was called "God is with us" when he represented his father on Earth. - John 1:18, 6:46

Edit: This identity of Jesus Christ as Immanuel did not mean he was the incarnation of God, ‘God in the flesh,’ which proponents of the Trinity teaching claim is implied by the meaning of Immanuel, namely, “With Us Is God.” It was a common practice among Jews to embody the word “God,” even “Jehovah,” in Hebrew names. Even today Immanuel is the proper name of many men; none of whom are incarnations of God.

4. Jesus was then called "Mighty God" after his resurrection. -Is 9:6

Edit: Only Jehovah is Almighty.

Exd 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Why wasn't Jesus named ‛Im·ma′nu ’El, meaning “With Us Is God” at his birth?

Because it was prophetic and not literal.

Jesus fulfilled this prophecy because he was Jehovah's representative.

John 7:28“YOU both know me and know where I am from. Also, I have not come of my own initiative, but he that sent me is real, and YOU do not know him. 29 I know him, because I am a representative from him, and that One sent me forth.”

Jesus' role on earth was to bring Jehovah's salvation to mankind

name Jesus (Gr., I·e·sous′) corresponds to the Hebrew name Jeshua (or, in fuller form, Jehoshua), meaning “Jehovah Is Salvation.”

John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

Prior to coming to the earth, and after his Resurrection:

Michael best describes his role:

(Mi′cha·el) [Who Is Like God?]

Jesus / Michael as Jehovah's only begotten Son could be the exact representation of his Father.

Heb 1:3 He is the reflection of [his] glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power; and after he had made a purification for our sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in lofty places.

I see that not alot of my brothers and sister visit this place, otherwise you would had gotten alot of feedback. I will give you an answer to your question. First please understand that in the bible Jesus is given alot of names, you got Jesus, Michael, Emanuel, Jesuschrist and so on. The meanings are, Jesus = Jehova(God) saves (not God with us). Emanuel = God with us. Michael = like God. Jesus christ = Jesus the king.
The rasons why the name was change, well you can see by the meaning, but also because Jesus left his place as archangel and became a human like me and you only perfect, why? Because Jesus and his 144 000 angel are the ones who are going to judge us humans.
Please understand that Jehova God is a god of justice, and he will not put a angel who doesn't know personally how it is to be a human to judge a human, this is where Jesus cames in, he came to earth as a human beign and suffer like a human, and now has the rigth to judge humans. if he would had came with his power like Michael, than that would no be fair right. There is more to this question than what i wrote for example in paradise Satan the Devil said that humans could rule them self without the help of Jehova God ( he was wrong).
Jesus had to come to earth, die and be faithfull to the end in order for us to be saved. when he died he went back to heaven to his place as archangel and now does all the work for his father, so he is like god because he is the one Jehova will use to put and end to all this injustice we now see..
like i said there is more to this. I hope this helps

Yes you are right, when he was here on earth he came to save, but who do you think is going to be the judge in the end who do you think is going to be in charge of ending all the thing we see now. Acts 147:31 Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and he has furnished a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead.”. here you see it is clear is talking about Jesus. How about this text John 5:22 For the Father judges no one at all, but he has committed all the judging to the Son.
come on Jereme accept the reality, accept what is in the Bible.
You heard of the TV game Jeopardy right.
This question was ask, which translation of the bilbe is the most accurate that exist now a days? guess what the answer was, the New World Translation. yet you claim our bible is different.
Hope this helps.

Jehovah's Witness, what a bunch, you can't be one of them if don't fork over 20% of your income. They are pests who go door to door like brush salemen. A pox on them all, if there is any justice every one of them will die in need of a blood transfusion.

The bible teaches that Jesus has several secondary names, including Immanuel, "David", the Word, Faithful and True, and even Sprout (or Branch). It seems that Jesus also uses the name "Michael" for certain purposes.

The bible term "angel" properly refers to *ANY* spirit creature. The resurrected Christ Jesus is a spirit creature, so Witnesses believe that it is not technically incorrect to refer to Jesus as "an angel"; although it would be incorrect to believe that Jesus was a mere angel on a par with other angels. Even before he came to earth and was impaled, Jesus the Son enjoyed a position higher than any other creature in existence because of two different reasons.

Firstly, as the firstborn of creation, Jesus likely spent thousands or millions or billions of years in exclusive association with Jehovah; this unique opportunity allowed Jesus to learn so much that Jesus is spoken of as the "image" and "reflection" and "exact representation" of Almighty Jehovah God.

(Colossians 1:15) [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation

(Hebrews 1:3) [Jesus] is the reflection of [Jehovah's] glory and the exact representation of his very being

Secondly, the bible teaches that Jesus worked alongside Jehovah to CREATE the other angels (and the rest of the heavenly and physical universe).

(Colossians 1:15-18) By means of him all other things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all other things and by means of him all other things were made to exist, 18 and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning

(Revelation 3:14) These are the things that [Jesus] says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God [see 2 Cor 1:20]

(Proverbs 8:22) Jehovah himself produced me as the beginning of his way, the earliest of his achievements of long ago.

(John 1:1,14) In the beginning [Jesus] was... So [Jesus] became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of undeserved kindness and truth.

While Jesus enjoyed an elevated position since his creation by Jehovah, the bible teaches that Christ Jesus the Son has been given even GREATER glory and authority than he previously had. Since Jesus' resurrection to heaven, the bible indicates that: no salvation occurs without Christ, accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, every prayer must acknowledge Christ, Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, and Christ is now immortal.

In fact, it is only since his resurrection that the bible explicitly and plainly states that Jesus (the Son) is now "better than the angels" and that Jehovah (the Father) elevated him thusly (emphasis has been added to most of these citations)...

(Hebrews 1:3-4) [Jesus] sat down on the right hand of the Majesty [Jehovah] in lofty places. 4 So he HAS BECOME better than the angels

(Matthew 28:18) And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: "All authority has been GIVEN ME in heaven and on the earth.

(Acts 2:36) God MADE HIM both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you impaled.

(John 3:35) The Father loves the Son and HAS GIVEN all things into his hand.

(Acts 5:31) GOD EXALTED this one as Chief Agent and Savior to his right hand

(Psalm 2:2-6) The kings of earth take their stand And high officials themselves have massed together as one against Jehovah AND against his anointed one... Jehovah himself will hold them in derision..., Saying: "I, even I, HAVE INSTALLED my king [Jesus]

As the agent of creation for the other angels, who better than Jesus to be their "Chief"? The term "archangel" is always in the singular, and actually means "Chief of the Angels". The bible teaches that the one and only archangel (named "Michael") is actually the heavenly pre- and post-human Jesus.

Note that Jesus the Lord calls with an archangel's voice:
. (1 Thessalonians 4:14-16) Jesus died and rose again, so, too... the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice

Note who leads angelic armies (Jesus is "Logos", "The Word"):
. (Revelation 19:13-14) the name he is called is The Word of God. Also, the armies that were in heaven were following him

. (Revelation 12:7) And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled

Who returns and stands up during a time of distress such as has never happened before?

. (Daniel 12:1) "And during that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of the sons of your people. And there will certainly occur a time of distress such as has not been made to occur since there came to be a nation until that time. And during that time your people will escape, every one who is found written down in the book.

. (Matthew 24:3-21) the disciples approached him [Jesus] privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?" And in answer Jesus said to them: "...All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. ...But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. ...for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.

Once you study it, the bible really teaches that Jesus is Michael. Although anti-Witnesses sometimes pretend that Gabriel (and sometimes "Lucifer") are also archangels, the fact remains that the bible itself speaks of only one single solitary archangel. Who would be above Jesus among heavenly creatures?

Interestingly, the Scriptures refer to *ALL* angelic spirit creatures as "morning stars". Jesus is not excluded from that terminology, but he is elevated by the unique description "the BRIGHT morning star".

(Job 38:4,7) When [Jehovah] founded the earth... When the morning stars [or "angels"] joyfully cried out together, And all the sons of God began shouting in applause

(Revelation 22:16) I, Jesus... I am the root and the offspring of David, and the BRIGHT morning star. [caps added]
