HOW MOSES GOT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

God went to the Arabs and said, "I have Commandments for you that will make your lives better."
The Arabs asked, "What are Commandments?"
And the Lord said, "They are rules for living."
"Can you give us an example?"
"Thou shall not kill."
"Not kill? We're not interested."

So He went to the Blacks and said, "I have Commandments."
The Blacks wanted an example, and the Lord said, "Honor thy Father and Mother."
"Father? We don't know who our fathers are.
We're not interested."

Then He went to the Mexicans and said, "I have Commandments."
The Mexicans also wanted an example, and the Lord said "Thou shall not steal."
"Not steal?
We're not interested."

Then He went to the French and said, "I have Commandments."
The French too wanted an example and the Lord said, "Thou shall not commit adultery."
"Not commit adultery? We're not interested."

Finally, He went to the Jews and said, "I have Commandments."
"Commandments?" They said, "How much are they?"
"They're free."
"We'll take 10."

The Roman Catholic Church had considerable difficulty deciding that her pope is infallible, and the matter required much time. In fact, it was not until the Vatican Council in 1870 that the infallibility of the pope was adopted. Here is the result of that council’s vote on the matter: For 451, against 88, 62 would accept if modified, and 70 did not vote at all! On the basis of that, a fallible cardinal becomes infallible in the administration of his office when appointed pope. Who can believe such? And remember, this was adopted more than eighteen hundred years after Christ had given to the world His fixed, final and complete revelation of what constitutes acceptable service to Almighty God.

Let us consider just for a moment this matter of papal lineage. Did you know that, after the papacy was introduced, there was a period of seventy years in which there was no pope at all? Did you know that for another period of fifty years there were two lines of popes? And did you know that at one time there were three popes? They were Benedict XIII, Gregory XII, the French pope, and John XXIII, the Italian pope. Where does all this leave papal lineage and infallibility?

The pope is not infallible per se. He is infallible on certain issues of doctrine.

What a lot of people fail to understand about Catholicism is that since the 1600's in England the establishment has been spreading misinformation about Catholicism for political reasons.

It was all to do with the Tudors - Edward VI's reign being radically protestant, Mary I's reign being radically Catholic, and Elizabeth I's reign providing the middle ground - taking bits from Catholicism and Protestantism and mixing them together to form the Church of England. This provided stability and an escape from the religious wars that afflicted the rest of Europe. Catholics were linked with foreign powers such as Philip II Spain and so were perceived as enemies and executed as traitors.

Since then the desire for stability and the maintenance of the status quo has meant villification of Catholics - to the extent that although there has never been a Catholic prime minister (Tony Blair is reputed to be going to become Catholic now he's not PM any more - he wouldn't have been able to be PM as a Catholic) and the heir to the throne by law cannot marry a Catholic.

The English took this villification of Catholicism to the colonies. Don't just assume that everything you hear about Catholicism is true - a truly enquiring and open mind will try to find the answer themselves, not just swallow the accepted truths - that goes for everyone, religious and non-religious.

No Pope decided it. It was decided by Christ.

Just to be clear -- infallibility doesn't mean the Pope is right about everything he ever says.

It's only when he's teaching on faith or morals, and only when he specifically invokes the charism of infallibility -- which is a very rare thing, actually.

If Popes are infallible then why is the current Pope undoing the changes of his predecessors?

I think most believe the Pope is a man just like anyone else.

Jesus did when he said to Simon Peter (the first Pope) and the Apostles (the first bishops), "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matthew 18:18) and "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16).

The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is infallible at closely defined times.

The Pope is only infallible when he, in union with the body of bishops, solemnly teaches that a doctrine as true. This is called "ex cathedra", literally meaning in Latin "from the chair".

At all other times the Pope can be just as wrong or sinful as you and me and be in need of forgiveness.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 891: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p4.htm#891 and http://www.catholic.com/library/Papal_Infallibility.asp

With love in Christ.

Vatican Council of 1870... so not a pope alone, but a committee (so to speak).

This doesn't mean the pope is sinless, blameless, perfect, or otherwise somehow always right; it only means that there is an option for solemn teaching about the most intimate matters of the faith that the church can declare to be divinely revealed. It has only been used twice, both times in regards to the Blessed Mother. (Her immaculate conception and her assumption into heaven.)

They all do don't they?
It's part of their arrogant deception of the foolish and superstitious.

The Pope is obviously not even a Christian is he?

He certainly doesn't follow Christ.

In his own life he utterly refuses Christ's teaching.

So how can he presume to imagine he knows anything about the true faith let alone infallible "on matters of morality and doctrine".

How so very immoral of him!

Look how he lives in all that wealth and splendour, the head of a massive man made and man run organisation, dressed in all his finery and symbolism and loves all that pomp and ceremony and accepts the adulation and praise of man.

But Christ tells us that the kingdom of heaven comes not with observation, quite the opposite of the Pope and his grand and in your face Roman deception that appeals to the senses and trumpets up man's works so that all the world can not only observe but must pay respect to.

He usurps the place of God and speaks and acts such great blasphemies representing himself as an example of God.

He presumes to give addresses to tell governments and people how to live - yes look how all the governments live rich and lordly like him! -

-and we have God's word already and he doesn't quote that does he? Lest it show him up?

Likes to be called Father and Holy Father - all in direct contradiction to what Jesus Christ expressly taught.

Claims to be in direct line from Peter who is expressly named by the Apostle Paul as the Apostle to the Jews! What a mess! What a mix up! Can't even get that right!

Claims that his Roman church is the only true church, a claim only God could make, and that there is salvation only within his Roman church, all in direct contradiction of what Christ has said.

When Christ took a little child and put him in the midst and taught that whosoever would be greatest must be just as that little child, and humble himself like that little child, do you immediately think of the Pope! Phhheeewweee!

The only similarity you can possibly think of is that he is doddering and helpless more than a child!

What a childish and yet fatal deception the Pope is.

Could you be any more extremely opposite to Jesus Christ?

Pah!

Do you notice that these claims to infallibility require God to be subservient to him and shuts out everybody from God except through his say so?

Now God cannot speak unless He agrees with the Pope!

You have to believe that God would give His glory over to sinful man in that way?

Who is fooling who?

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
