It is a great reminder that to be diligent and watchful of ourselves. For sin can come slowly and seep in without warning creating temptation.

It is taken out of context -
here is the context -
1 Corinthians 10:11-13 (King James Version)

11Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The first verse warns the hearer to remember that we are saved by Grace and not works and that we are tried daily.

It is a way of saying don't be too cocky because pride goeth before a fall. We are all human and despite the fact the reader / listener is saved we still sin and if we get too confident that we are the great know it all we will be rebuked and if we get too proud we will fall. It is a friendly, brotherly warning.

This text is speaking of "potential",sinful pride,in my view. The point of Salvation,is by Grace and likewise, our daily walk in sanctification is the same

We do not stand on our own merit or STRENGTH.. everything is by His Grace and through his strength...These are not simply, nice sounding words to applaude...none have the strength to stand alone, apart from his mercy and Grace..Pride comes before a fall. I could not possibly overuse the word,Grace.

That we should not be too full of pride or think too much of ourselves. If we do, then we take the chance of losing God's favor and in that way we would fall short of pleasing him.

The meek ones are the ones who will inherit the earth.

I believe you are speaking of " PRIDE" and God says: "It Cometh Before a Fall!" Never get too Puffed up,>> or Sure Of Yourself. >> God can Humble You Down in a Split second! That's Just His way of telling Us He LOVES US! And He Surely Does. (smile) + + +

Be vigilant. Don't trust in "cheap grace" of a "I'm baptized, I believe, therefore I can do whatever I want and not worry."
