I have used it several times just the other night my husband, my brother and myself used it in the cemetary...
Ouija board can be an interesting experience. Some believe it is a doorway to another world and warn against its use, but most people see it as a harmless diversion, especially if it's not taken too seriously.
Here are some guidlines for you;
1) It takes two to Ouija. Usually one person is not able to work the Ouija but it can work though it wouldn't be a smart idea. Get a friend to use it with you. A male and female is usually recommended.
2) Timing. Most practitioners suggest using the board at night when, they say, less interference is in the atmosphere.
3) Create some atmosphere. The Ouija is more fun if you darken the room and light some candles. Turn off the TV and any music to minimize distractions.
4) Have a seat. The two users should sit facing each other, with knees touching if possible, with the board on their laps. Don't use a table.
5) Decide on a questioner or medium. Even though both people can ask questions -- or anyone else in the room can -- only one of the users should be the medium (the one to formally ask questions of the board).
6) Place your fingers on the planchette. You and your partner should place the fingers of both hands very lightly on the planchette, or pointer.
7) Move it. Purposely move the planchette around in a circle on the board for a moment or two to get it 'warmed up.'
8) Attitude. Don't let the board control the session. The medium should begin by announcing that the session will only allow an experience that is positive or toward a higher good and that negative energies are not welcome.
9) Begin simply. Start with a simple question, one that requires a yes or no answer, such as " Is there a spirit guide near".
10) Be patient. You might not begin to get answers right away. Give the board a chance to 'warm up.'
11) Be polite. When the board starts working, thank the board or entities for showing up and communicating with you.
12) Don't ask stupid questions. Avoid questions such as, 'When am I going to die?' If the board answers, 'in 6 months,' you might just worry about it needlessly.
13) Don't ask for physical signs. Many experienced users warn against asking for physical signs that the 'spirit' is real or present.
14) Don't believe everything the board tells you. Just as with any other source of information, don't accept whatever the board says to be the truth or accurate.
15) Close the board. This is an important step. When you're done with your session, slide the planchette to 'GOODBYE' and remove your hands.
16) Do not let the planchette move to the four corners of the board or in the shape of an eight on the board and whatever you do make sure the planchette doesn't go off your board. If it flies off, falls off that could mean a spirit is trying to get out
Tips:
Have someone write down the answers. Sometimes the letters spell out very quickly and it's difficult to keep track of what's being said. A third person with paper and pen can write down the message as it comes.
Play sober. You'll get better results if you haven't been drinking or smoking.
Maintain control. If the board starts giving rude, vulgar, obscene or otherwise disagreeable responses, break off the session immediately by closing the board.
hope i helped!

It's a crock...a parlor trick. If spirits exist and are trying to communicate, do you think that they'd have to go through Parker Brothers/Hasbro? Only foolish people believe that you can contact spirits through Ouija boards.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouija_board
"Bill Wilson the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous used the Ouija Board to contact spirits. His wife said that he would get messages directly without even using the board. For a while, his participation in A.A was deeply affected by his involvement with the Ouija board. Wilson claimed that he received the twelve step method directly from a spirit without the board and wrote it down."

I used one as a teenager... It was kind of cool but somewhat scary at the same time. Never use it alone!!!! If you find a friend who will use it with you make sure that no matter who you are talking to (in the spirit world) close the conversation. When you are done using it, store it in the garage or somewhere away from where you live and sleep. I cannot be sure if they work but when I used one it was with a friend I truly trusted, I can say that I did not move the pointer and she swore to me she never moved it and the board was giving answers about each of us that the other didn't know before. I have heard some crazy stories about Ouija Boards so my advice to you is to be careful.

Though it was created and is produced by a toy and game company, an Ouija board can help you harness any Oracle talents you may have. There are no spirits, curses, or ghosts involved.
The Ouija boards, like the pendulum, and the planchette, are amplifiers of talent already within the operator. If you try too hard or you have no natural talent, it is normal for the board to remain quiescent or make only foolish moves.
There are none of the evil things many Christians say will cause you harm, for all of these phenomena only exist in the minds of Christians who thrive on fear in others and themselves.
The Ouija board is subject to the laws of Magick because it is used as a tool of Magick and if you try to use it for an evil purpose the evil will be returned threefold.

I have tried using a homade one with a group of friends. Ours got very small results. But remember it was only a homeade one.
However, my mother and her friend bought a real one, and it had a disasterous effect. Things when flying around the room the board went flying. Very scary.
I would advise against using one, but if you do I would not do it alone, or with a weak spirited friend. There are some very bad things that can come of these boards, and they should not be messed with at all. Or at the very least by amatures.

its user-friendly, you basically placed 2 arms from each and each hand on the backside of the pointer and decide for it ;) btw, basically a tip, selfmade ouija boards are extra constructive than the storebought ones, as long as you dont cause them to for the duration of a void moon/waning moon each and all the human beings telling you to shove your ouija board up your *** can kiss off, so can the human beings telling you to no longer use it. it is a solid device for touch as long as you're no longer a douche approximately it. some human beings are like "haha ouija board, that's exciting." no. its extreme stuff and you may desire to be responsive to what you're getting into.

I did many decades ago. It told me who I would marry. A year later when I started work one of the first people I met had the name of the person the oiuja board had said. It was a most unusual forename and surname, in fact Russian sounding. He was V handsome. He pursued me for the next two years and I fancied him like mad but because I was scared of ghosts, I thought that if I ignored his advances and didn't marry him, the ouija board must be nonsense. I married someone else and spent the next four and a half decades wishing I'd have married the 'Russian'
Advice is, don't go near a ouija board, they say evil spirits can be attracted too and stay around you.

There are some simple rules to using the Ouija Board, I have used them often, sometimes its a very good evening & sometimes nothing happens,
1st & vital every time, Always 'open' the board with an opening prayer,
2nd, remember it isn't a game & shouldn't be treated as one
3rd, Ask questions that are easily understood / answered
4th, always treat it with respect
5th, & as vital as 1st. Always 'close' the board with a closing prayer,
Feel free to E-Mail me if you want to know anything else.

ouiji boards do!! work!!
do not play with them you are likley to get burnt!
the reason is.
contacting spirits through ouiji means contacting spirits that are earth bound and resonate at a lower vibration than spirits that have further acsended. meaning spirits tied to the earth may have some issues to work out or hate and anger to release . dont be the tool of release for them.
in addition you need to take into account the laws of attraction . if you and a freidn are sitting in a darkened room with a candle spooking each other out . imagining monsters and bad spirits and the like . filling your mind with these fears makes the manisfestation of them easier .
with ouiji you can open the door for sure . but only do so if you know how to close it
