As original sin took foothold on the earth man slowly began to decline in physical lifespan. In the beginning the earth was pure and life lasted for a long time.

I am not claiming I have the truth about this myth but think about that this way. Some religious people believe the earth is about 6000 thousand years old. There were not many generations between the first man and Jesus Christ. so in order to patch up this myth they have to come up with the idea that the first generations were living longer That is all as simple as that.
But your question proves to me that if some people in today society really believe that some people were able to live almost 900 years before. This is telling me how bad the educational system is . A total failure for those people.

When I first started questioning that, I realized something. Translating periods of time is difficult, and easy to confuse. I went thru that passage of the bible, and divided each of the ages by 13 (lunar cycles in a calendar year). I ended up with people living average to long life spans for modern man, but not the ridiculous times that are in the bible.
That, combined with the correlating timeline if you scale the 7 biblical days to a standard transparency, then put human history scaled to the same size page, and THEY MATCH NEARLY PERFECTLY, and you realize the bible is a story to explain the world around us.
EDIT: if the people above me are right and sin causese an earlier and earlier death, then why are we living longer now than 200 years ago?

Because they used a different calendar. Our present day calendar is fairly new. July was added cuz Julius Cesear wanted a month to himself and August is attributed to Augusta Cesear. So the "years" were actually much shorter. I also think I heard that 1 month went from 1 full moon to another so months with 2 full moons were very short. At least that's what I was told over the yrs.

Angels found human women desirable and "knew" them. Angels are immortal, people aren't. After many generations the immortal gene diluted so by post flood biblical times the average lifespan was 35 years. It wasn't until the 20th century that most people lived past 50 again.
Genesis 6:1-4
1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
3 And the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” 4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

The suspicion exists that the 900 were lunar years (months). ~
That would make it about 75 years.
Also, in the past, royal dynasties often considered the son the same as the father, like a reincarnation. So a whole bunch of heirs could have added up to that in actual years. But with about 30 to 40 individuals.

No. The body was so pristine that when sin came into the picture in the Garden of Eden that it literally had to be TAUGHT how to die! As evil increased each succeeding generation, man's average life span got less and less until modern medicine managed to get a little of it back.

Dear idcc,
By the edict of God Almighty. We read in Psalm 90:10, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."
The Lord holds every persons life in His hand. He determines how many years that a person will live. Seventy years is the average life span.

i believe the bible is authentic with this. in certainty the bible predicts that for the duration of the millennial reign of Jesus Christ will start to stay that long back. yet God replaced into logical for guy to stay that long besides. Mankind replaced into in basic terms commencing as much as stay right here on earth earth and a short existence time would be deadly to guy's destiny. We learn plenty in our existence time and bypass it on. yet in this style of an prolonged existence a guy can coach further and further as for rather some generations. We learn the common issues like construction a house, looking, commencing fires, taming wild animals, planting seeds for the duration of particular seasons in the earth, forming a central authority and practising faith and faith and passing this counsel on or loss of it. In those early days guy had an accountability element that we don't locate at latest. Any way in case you have a difficulty with that the bible predicts mankind as total will stay that long back in the time of the time Jesus Christ regulations and reigns in this earth. It says guy will stay as previous as trees in Isaiah sixty 5: 22 They shall no longer build, and yet another inhabit; they shall no longer plant, and yet another devour: for because of the fact the days of a tree are the days of my human beings, and mine % shall long appreciate the artwork of their arms.
