To be Protestant you must believe the Church became doctrinally corrupted at some point, otherwise there would be no reason to be outside it.

Can anyone show when and where this change happened? For example show that the Church believed one thing in the second century and changed it in the fourth.

I am not interested in personal disagreement with any particular Church doctrine, but in historical evidence of a change.

Paul said that we as Christians should be of one mind and have no divisions amongst us. When confronted with Paul’s claim, many of the Protestants I speak to say they are united over the primary or important doctrines, which deal with our salvation. They, however, disagree on the secondary or unimportant ones that don’t affect our salvation.

My question is where can I find in the Scriptures this idea of primary and secondary doctrines?

If God is all-powerful, that means any time anyone suffers, God could have prevented it if He wanted to. Even if you think some greater good comes from the suffering (e.g. preserving free will, or learning a lesson), God could have accomplished that good thing without anyone suffering. (Or is that beyond God's powers? Too difficult for Him?)

It's also no argument that people bring suffering on themselves by turning away from God. Plenty of faithful people suffer, and so do small children who are too young to understand God. Whatever good comes out of their suffering, God could have made it happen without them suffering if He wanted to.

That means God wants you to suffer, for no other reason than just to make you suffer. Either that, or He is unable to prevent it. Do you really want to worship a God like that? Why?

If you knew that everything you said and did was being recorded and stored for posterity, how would you live your life? What would you do differently, if you knew your grandkids and great grandkids could "browse" and view every moment of your life.

Despite what is clearly written in the book of James most of Protestantism believes that we are saved by faith alone. Can someone find for me within the canon of scriptures where it says we are saved by faith alone.

I am not looking for scriptures, which say we are saved by faith; they are obvious and abundant. You must find scriptures, which specifically say, we are saved by faith alone. If you are using a Lutheran Bible, you must justify how Martin Luther has the authority to add the word alone to the book of Galatians, which doesn't exist in the Latin or Greek texts of the New Testament Scriptures.

If you believe in Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), or are knowledgeable about it, why do you believe in such a doctrine and can you show me where in the Scriptures it says Sola Scriptura and is not referring exclusively to the Septuagint? If you can't find a verse, then explain how you can accept Sola Scriptura if it isn't in Scripture.

I know I don't deserve it

How the Lord's been good to me
He keeps blessing me!

Do you ever wonder why people have so much hatred for God? Is it because they are so full of hatred that they are blinded by it? Is it because their hearts are hardened? Like this guy who keeps posting the cancer questions? Why are you so angry? I just have to wonder. I mean, God works everything for His will. And if you don't believe in Him, why are you so quick to blame Him for all the bad things that happen? If you didn't blame Him, who would you blame? You know, it takes faith to believe in nothing as well as to believe in something.

Please answer the following:

Would you send your kids to a private religious school (your choice of religion)?

Do you feel that religious schools are too one-sided?

Do you think religious schools really help the students to grow in the faith of the school, or does it make them rebel and turn away? (i know this depends on the individual, but how do you think it would affect the majority of students?)

If you feel it makes them turn away, how so? (example: rejecting basic moral values, or keeping those values but just not agreeing with the particular religion - there is a difference!)

Personally i would want my kids to have a broader view of the world as a whole, something i felt i was lacking in at my christian middle/high school. So no, i wouldn't send them to a private religious institution of any religion. but that's just me. what say you?

i work at petco in beltsville md and yesterday my boss called me in and said that all of the MOD's felt that i was not working hard enough and that i am talking to much to the patron and that its getting anoying and that is why i have been only working 2 days a week. i told my boss thank you for telling me this i will work on being more productive and not talking so long to the patrons. but afterword when i was stocking the shelves i got to wondering why the MOD's did not come to me first and let me know befor my boss had to get involved . if they had taken me aside and let me know sooner < i went from 380 a paycheck to 277 a pay check and its been that way for a month> i would have changes and i would not have lost so much money andi would not be behind on stuff. so do i have a right to be pissed or should i just move on . i dont know what to do .

A more famous one from 'Sister Act':

Yet at other times you're QUICK to STEAL the Words of Jesus (and misapply them). 'thou shall not judge, thou shall not judge!!". interesting.

I see it quoted many times. But, to me it sounds rather foolish.

As a Christian are you not to study the Bible, learn from others, have dialogue etc...

Or, are you to walk through life with blinders on?

God said it? Where did God say it? In the Bible? Who says? The Bible says....hmmm isn't that a circular argument.

Wouldn't one be a better "witness" speaking from their heart...providing answers to peoples questions...rather than empty foolish lines like the above...or regurgitated memorized Bible verses?

Your thoughts?
