Would this include "Jesus": "division" and not peace
(Matthew 10:34; Luke 12:51; John 7:43; 9:16)

Would them causing division include Atheists vs X-ians?

Would "division" be contrary to doctrine of "unity"?
Would alienation be contrary to doctrine of reconciliation?

Can God be one by division, or is God one by unity?

God on high? Seems to be divided: left/right heavens.

Unity of the Ghost(Law) or of the Spirit(Grace)?

He told me that i'm only his 2ndry Soul Mate and that they have a connection far deeper than we ever could. We have been together of 10 years and we have 3 really young children who i'm left to look after on my own now. He tells me they both spend their evenings talking to dead people, spirit guids, higher powers & checking past live connections. I, along with all my family & friends, are in a state of shock - not just at his leaving but also his reasoning. Has anyone been through something similar or know someone one who has? Has he completely been brainwashed and lost his mind or is there some greater picture I'm just not getting?

Even though the U.S. and Canada have a lot of similarities, the U.S. has a much higher crime rate.

Besides Canada has a lower population and strict gun laws, what makes the difference?

Hope you understand my poor English....

Now I am an atheist, but I don not feel that should be taken out of our pledge or our goverment in general. Mainly for the sake of our history as a country. We established our goverment based on a belief in God and our country was built by great men and women who truly believed in that. I think it would be wrong to try to erase the historical references of God in our country. That's just me though, so what do you think atheists and christians?

I never have, until this morning. Now, I'm hoping each of you who gets one of these scams will respond in kind. Here is what I wrote to my most recent would-be benefactor.

Dear Mr. Wallace K. Kadanga,

You do know this is highly illegal, correct?

I think you are a criminal for keeping this money.

The sum, in its entirety, should be donated to the African Children's Fund. You should be ashamed for taking food out of the mouths of the impoverished, hungry youth on your continent.

While I am well aware that this is a scam and there is no money forthcoming, I would like you to know that if you did forward it to me you would not get one red cent. Neither would I as all the funds would be redirected to charity.

I hope you re-think your life of crime and will rededicate yourself to the service of all the wonderful children in this world, especially those in West Africa.

Most sincerely,

The Beach Saint

Agree/disagree: If the Founding Fathers really wanted a Christian nation, then why does their First Amendment conflict with the First, Second, and Third Commandments?

Most of you remember the First, Second, and Third Commandments:

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain."
"Thou shalt not make any graven image."

And almost as many of you remember the First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for redress of grievances."

So if the Founders were establishing a "Christian nation," why did they draft this amendment and why did they make it the first and most important one?

I used to belong to the high control group or cult Jehovah's Witnesses as some people call it. Now I am free after 10 years. I sometimes get the urge to talk to friends I had to leave behind in the cult. I find it difficult not being allowed to talk to them because some religion tells me I can’t. Isn't it crazy that I can’t be their friend just because I don't believe in their religion? Why does religion have to come between friendships? I accept people from all types of religion as my friends! As long as they don't try and convert me I don't care what they believe.

It is not uncommon for people to come on this forum and spout marriage is for raising children. A recent Pew Research Survey disuputes this assumption.

For adults 18-64

68% said marriage is for mutual happiness
21% said marriage is for raising children

even when asking those people that attend religious services atleast weekly, mutual happiness was still #1 at 58%, with raising children a distant second at 25%.

Here is a link to the survey

Bukari: “”the prophet said, "isn't the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?" the women said, "yes." he said, "this is because of the deficiency of a woman's mind."” http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/048.sbt.html#003.048.826

A common answer Muslims have (to western audiences) is that some haddiths have been corrupted. Notice that they dont rennounce or deny the validity of this verse in the Bukhari when they say that.

Another response I often here to explain this verse is stuff like "ohh well, us woman make-up for it." Its astounding, they literally accept it and laugh it off, like its just a reality of life that woman are deficient of the mind.

I suppose this is a paradox because, any woman who accepts savage Muhammad's stupid claim that woman are deficient of the mind, are deficient of the mind! Naturally the answer to this paradox is easy, considering that under Islam they are raised to have low self esteem.

I just asked a question in the Psychology section about why baby cries are so nerve wracking, and some of the responses was: its natures way of making sure babies get attention.

But why on earth would humans evolve as to be annoyed by the sound of a baby cry?
